jsrose, hit Tenutas in Kenosha, they have some 12 Dog. Excited to hear the news about Black Husky. I really enjoy their offerings, especially the Pale Ale.

The reporter in that video is even less charismatic than I am....

Great news for Milwaukee. It has always been a bit tragic that brew city didn't have many good breweries.

I am hoping distribution in Northern WI is uneffected. I have a great little spot in Depere for getting my Black Husky.

we will still keep our current distribution. Our first keg account was Newingham's in Wausaukee and we will keep Daryl supplied with beer as long as he wants it since he was willing to take a chance on us so we will be up north a couple of times a month.

Now you'll be able to get a growler of Howler. Maybe even a howler of Howler. And if this whole canning thing catches on, maybe we'll see crowlers of Howler.

I guess I am in the minority opinion that I could care less about them moving to Milwaukee. I don't drink them often as there is usually much better choices available and I rarely keep them at my house since I don't want to waste refrigerator space on them to make sure they don't blow up in my cellar. But good luck to them or something...

Yeah, definitely in the minority. Besides Karben4, I can't think of a better hoppy beer producer in the state (that sees some distribution). Scream is awesome, but it's the only hoppy beer Dan makes (which I'm fine with, we don't need NG going down that road). Twelve Dog is great, too. Not sure what there is to dislike, but hey, more for us.

Am I the only person who thinks Moon Man is one of the best hoppy beers available, period?

Definitely glad to hear Black Husky is expanding, love most of their beers, especially Sproose and Sparkly Eyes.

I LOVE Moon Man, but it's actually a stylistically accurate pale ale, so it's not all THAT hoppy, not in the same sentence as Scream or any Black Husky hoppy beer. You're right, I should've mentioned it. It's fantastic and underrated.

Have had hundreds of bottles from them (usually but not always stored in my fridge) and only ever had one bottle that over carb'd itself. Of course, I almost always drink them within a day or two of purchase. Have sent some great distances in all sorts of weather with no problem, though.

On a friendly but firm note, I suggest giving Howler a shot. You really aren't going to find a beer like it in our market, and if you do, it most likely won't be as fresh.

Brief note on the MKE craft beer scene: we need every good brewer we can get. We have several small breweries, all of which have the potential to make great beer. But it's going to take a few years for them to really get to know their equipment and dial in their recipes. Even Black Husky will take some time on what I'm assuming will be a new/expanded brew kit. But it's going to take a community of many different brewers with many different experiences to help this city reach it's potential in terms of craft beer. And with good craft beer comes a stronger local economy- restaurants, bakeries, and shops LOVE to open up in a neighborhood with a few good breweries. Whether it be Mobcraft with the potential to stabilize a regular line-up while still experimenting, Brenner fine-tuning and growing along with his neighborhood, or Black Husky bringing some tried-and-true recipes to larger scale, Milwaukee's homebrewers, craft beer lovers, and foodies should embrace everyone who wants to give it a go in their city.

And Riverwest is Milwaukee. With the dearth of suburbs and the explosion of beer in Bayview & Walker's Point, it is thrilling to see Black Husky choose the most diverse neighborhood in the city.

I'm looking forward to experiencing the next 5-10 years in Milwaukee craft beer. How hard we work will correlate directly into how great it can be- that's an awesome opportunity.

Ha! That one always trips me up! I guess I'll try to worm out of it by saying I have some very very very luke warm interest in their move, so there is less I could care. :grinning:

I wasn't trying to be a smartass but there are just some things that come easily to me. Having said that comments from Thomas are the ones that keep me up at night. We try so hard to do everything right, to try to be perfect and I guess sometimes we fuck up. I'm not making any excuses only that we will continue to try and improve.
