Minority? The beers in the pack are all rated 83 or higher, and a couple are scoring in the 90s. You just heard a small and vocal minority of guys on the forums that don't like SN brews. I don't understand it, myself. I picked up two of the 12 pks and enjoyed every single one of the beers.

Besides the great beer Sierra Nevada brews, I also admire that they see the craft industry as a collective effort and they are willing to do collaborations like this.

I got a response from Sierra Nevada on Facebook regarding the format

"It will be a bit different this year. The 12-pack will contain 6 different beers (2 of each). We have "super groups" from each region - NorCal, Southwest, Pacific NW and Rockies, Midwest, Northeast and Mid-Atlantic and Southeast - creating the beer for their region. In all, 30 breweries will participate in the pack."

Off topic: Ninkasi just released Noir Milk Stout, which was "heavily influenced" by their collab last year.

On topic: The NW group has Bale Breaker, Barley Browns, Melvin (formerly known as Thai Me Up), and Odell. I hope they play to the strengths of the collaborating breweries and make a box full of fucking awesome IPAs.

I'm a bit confused. So are they doing separate mixed 12 packs with each group? Or just one mixed 12 with one beer from each region?

I'm thinking the second idea is more likely but the first idea would be awesome!

Heck yeah! I'll be going to the southwest one if trillium, Lawson's, creature comforts etc will be there. However, if I remember correctly not all the breweries participated in the festivals and left many people feeling butt hurt over it.

Some consider them boring, but SN is very important in craft beer.

I am really excited to see what this trillium collab means for craft beer.

Would SN be inspired to create something in that NE style? That would truly change the game

What if SN offers hop oils up for Trillium to use? Another game changer

That's a good question. If I were to guess the packs will be made up by region and Sierra Nevada will add their own beer camp beer. Each having two of the same beers in each 12er.

I think the idea of splitting this up into regions is good and bad

I liked trying a beer from alaska last year.

But the hoppy beers were stored warm and were a month old by the time they got to my fridge.

Hopefully SN can take a page out of Stones book and ship them ASAP like Enjoy By. Also, brew the hoppy beers last.

Very few breweries have the organization and willingness to attempt something ambitious like this. Yeah, it could always fall flat but cheers to SN for giving this a try. Looking forward to trying the Midwest pack because the Midwest is always the best

The bottle dates were all off. Picked up a 12er as soon as I saw it and half the beers were over a month old. Maybe that's why they changed it up. Probably hard to time 12 different beers, especially if Sierra Nevada was brewing them all for for bottling, at least that's my assumption.

I would agree to a point, but they brew really good beer, their collaboration Oktoberfest is really good and I was impressed with their Fall Pack.

IIRC, even SN admitted the logistics of co-brewing and then packaging those different beers was a nightmare. My read on this is the identified breweries will work together on recipe creation, but that SN will be able to brew them whenever they're ready, hopefully making brew times/packaging times/etc more in sync. That's just me theory though. Point is, I think this go-round might make things easier to get everything out in a timely manner.
