I'd argue that a change in yeast strain makes it not the same base. Especially when it changes the style category of the beer (Belgian Stout vs American Stout).

Yeah, I feel like we could delve into some sort of navel-gazing ontological debate there. I'm not opposed to that, just don't really feel like it right now.

I'm opposed to it. And don't feel like it.

Is that close to Meat & Potatoes? I have a reservation there Saturday. Wouldn't mind checking out a rooftop since itll be close to 90 degrees out.

idk man. I get enough yeast at the bottom of my beer. Dont think I need any supplementals from other sources.

No, but I have happily driven 30 minutes out of my way while already in VT, and paid ~$4 a can for Heady. Would've probably been a lot easier to just spend $7.50 locally. Moral of the story: I'm dumb.

Dont beat yourself up. I have paid $10/can on black market, more than once. And definitely $7.50 at a bar. I wouldn't do this on a regular basis by anymeans. Just poor rationalization and money management on my part.

I probably like SMS more than Tiny, but its pretty close. The Belgian yeast makes the mouthfeel on Tiny soooo velvety. Plus I bought a case of it that first year it came out for like $60.

Oh yeah, I was assuming the original hypothetical was retail. If it's at a bar, I'd be thrilled to pay $7.50 for a pounder of out of market top 5 rated beer. Not even a question.

When H01kB had it, they were ten a pop. My wife was out that way for work and grabbed a few; hard to be upset.

For sure. I'm not desperate enough for it to pay much of a premium retail, but if it's your favorite beer or you've never tried it or whatever, $7.50 or $10 or whatever, assuming it's relatively fresh (Heady doesn't seem to deteriorate as quickly as a lot of IPAs, so emphasis on relatively), seems perfectly reasonable.

Nice! Now you've just got 99 pages of backlog to get through.
