Not to derail this thread but I'm looking for a place to eat Sunday night. is Grit &Grace solid? Also would you go to butcher and the rye over meat and potatoes (talking strictly food here). There will be plenty of places to get my craft beer fix so I'm not necessarily worried about that.

Butcher and the rye is great one of my favorite places to eat up there with Hyde park

Personal preference is B&R > M&P, based primarily upon their respective duck offerings. Both good choices though.

Grit and Grace is solid. Went there several times and enjoyed it. Wife loved it there.

I've only eaten here once, but my fiancee and I absolutely loved it here. Every dish we had was awesome, and the atmosphere is just so cool inside. It's like an eclectic cross between a hunting lodge and an old rich man's library.

I love Grit & Grace, but their style of menu is a little different than a lot of places, as they do not have too many entree sized plates on their menu. A lot of their dishes consist of shareable plates, and they offer "dim sum" which are small a la carte sides. My fiancee and I love to try different dishes, so a place like this is perfect for us, but it's not for everyone.

Like barflybastard, I too prefer Butcher and the Rye over Meat and Potatoes, if only because it's been years since I've eaten at Meat and Potatoes and can't remember my meal too much. Butcher and the Rye is pretty fresh and my mind, and as I mentioned before, both the food and decor / atmosphere were kick ass.

I think the food at Grit and Grace is much better than at Butcher in the Rye and Meat and Potatoes. And the cocktails are just as good. Favorite place to eat downtown. And you won't need reservations made like 3 weeks ago.

Couldn't agree more. Butcher and the Rye, specifically the upstairs bar, is as cool as it gets for me.

Also, so the thread doesn't get nuked, posts deleted and people killed, they had a decent beer selection.

How was the Mexican Coffee from BG by the way? Anyone get a chance to try it yet?

M&P Bloody Mary bar is legit

Grit & Grace is awesome for lunch and dinner but those little dim sum plates make it a nice lunch spot for sure

Butcher and the Rye with a nice bourbon cocktail and some brussel sprouts would be awesome

Grit & Grace is the best restaurant of the 3. Not my opinion but a fact.

Grit and Grace is also the best prices of the three. Went their on my birthday and my wife and I stuffed our face, each got two cocktails and I think the total was around $80.

    Beer.

I guess that explains why we haven't heard any Stellmacher news lately. Guy just disappeared. I haven't heard him mentioned around town recently either.

People still checking in his beers on the old ticking app but who knows when they were released.

He closed that down a while ago. Said he wasn't chasing it anymore. What he had sitting around, he was going to give away and that would be it. I was at a share he was at right around the time he started fucking off in here and got 3 bottles off him. I still have 2 left.
