Pittsburgh - New Beers & Local Breweries

Went to BG tonight and sampled a lot. Citra Saison, Rutherford Saison, Mexican Coffee, CPA, and both the barleywine and blonde ales as well. Citra Saison was the star to me. The only one I flatly didn't care for was the barleywine. For me it had a sort of odd cherry flavor going on. Strange.

I enjoyed CPA but felt like it lacked some complexity and depth. Still pretty good.

Anyway, all in all a great visit.

 

Did you clear this announcement with the resident Roundabout homer? Perhaps he's too worried about what I'm doing to pay attention to his duties.

 

When were you there? How narrowly did we miss each other?

Oh and I got to try the BA Roundabout stout couple weeks ago out of the barrel. And it was really good.

 

We were there from around 8:15 until close to 10.

Big night for BAs at BG apparently. I was only there from like 730 to 8. Had to go make some donations at the casino.

 

Anyone going to be at BG around 12 today? I'm childless and going to go have a few.

 

i agree with everything you're saying. i was just trying to make a point that i think friends will lie to homebrewer friends more than people in this thread were claiming.

 

No Roundabout BA stout until 3. Might as well have a flight while I'm here....

First visit to hop farm today. My previous thoughts are confirmed, horrible beer. Won't be back. Roundabout ba stout is pretty tasty but not much barrel presence at all. Not sure how long it spent in barrels, but could've used a few more months at least. Not really worth the trip if that's the main reason for going.

 

i'm hitting up Roundabout around about 5 PM if anyone is gonna be around those whereabouts.

i'll be the dude wearing a brew gentlemen hat, roller skates, tutu, and snorkel.

 

Wow! Guess what! I like it a lot. A little heat, good amount of coconut from the barrel, really good as it warms.
