I heard from a buddy of mine who is notoriously hyper-critical of BG that Lou was the real deal.

Yikes. I know a few poor souls who bought a case of this at its release price when it first dropped.

Was in the area and decided to give spoonwood a second visit over the weekend. After trying 4 more of their beers, i stand by my previous opinion that they have really bad beer. Flavors are very muted and most taste very watered down.

On a positive note for those on here that demand positivity, I also gave grist house a proper visit. Fire on the hill was actually pretty good. definitely one of the better local ipas ive had. they also had a few other hoppy beers that were ok. the porter was decent as well. i would probably go back if in the area.

This thread is way to big for me to look through so I am hoping for some suggestions. Probably headed up there for a Pitt game Saturday Oct 10th. Never been to Pittsburgh before. I will have limited time that evening to make one stop. I have had plenty of Fat Head's so I would rather check something else out. I am leaning towards Voodoo's Homestead location. Are there any smaller up and coming breweries brewing great beer? I prefer hoppy, sour and barrel aged beers if that helps. Thanks in advance.

Brew Gentlemen for your Hoppy offerings and Draai Laag for your wild ale/sour offerings. You can hit up Brew Gentlemen when you head to Voodoo

I feel like this statement should be a disclaimer at the beginning of the thread or something with how many people ask this same question.

Anyone know if caution is being released again this year?

Sorry - haven't been paying close attention - anything noteworthy coming up in the next couple of weeks on the beer schedule? Pours of overpriced "sours" that have sat in the bottled beer cooler at Caliente since the last event don't count. I'll probably head to town next week to watch the Bucs get smoked by Arrieta in person, and I'm trying to decide if I should incorporate this weekend, next weekend or both into my plans.

Next Friday is the Plague release. That's about all I've got.

Feel free to bring your family up and a growler of Lou anytime!

I swear I saw a post on instagram or facebook from @voodoobrewery that showed them brewing it and it said "first", assuming that meant first to brew a pumpkin beer for 2015, so this could have been in January for all we know, since Southern Tier brews Pumking years in advance, but I can't find it.

Why wouldn't they brew it again, that beer was and still is drinking real nice!

Hope they do Caution! again. Didn't get my hands on any last round.

Made it out to BG this weekend and really liked the CPA, Clown Party and Lou--first time for these three. Lou is probably the first ALS beer I can recommend, and the CPA was as advertised on here, but I went home with a growler of Clown Party--it was my first sip when I got there and I think it stuck with me. Growler went down before Big Ben did (unfortunate on both accounts). Wish that place were closer to me, though did make it in about 35 minutes.

Headed to Annapolis this weekend for a wedding. It's a long stretch with kids, so I can't stray far from the direct route, but wondering if anyone who's done the road trip has any suggestions for stops along the way (not including Frederick, as we recently explored beer there), or in Annapolis itself.

Haven't been there in several (15?) years and though I plan to perform due diligence with regard to forum searches and beer mapping, but wanted to solicit personal direction from this thread first. Thanks in advance for any bites.

@barflybastard Columbia, MD has some nice beer stops. Perfect Pour is a great, albeit expensive bottle shop. Frisco Grill is my favorite food/bar place in the area and is kid friendly. Many other options around. If wanting more family friendly then Elliciotville has a bunch of cool shops and the Judges Bench has a nice selection on tap.

When in Annapolis and facing the water hit up the liquor store on the right down close to the water. Not a huge selection but I have found some good scores there.

I would also suggest making Clown Party a priority.
