While I won't be able to hit up the Grrrz release, I will be headed out that way for a work conference later in October (in Scranton). I've read some of the reviews, but wondering personal impressions of Bullfrog as a brewery visit?

I would suggest checking Bullfrog out. I think that their bar food is above average, and I've loved everything I've had from them brew wise. Although I should say that the only beer outside of the Grrrz offerings I've had from them is their Edgar IPA. And the inside has an old school, small town feel to it that our Pittsburgh brewery's don't have.

I always thought it was "gurz" but everyone I've talked to has pronounced it "grizz".

place is great. One of the best brewpubs I've been to. I didnt "tour" it, nor do I know if they have such offerings. Their beer was pretty good. But the food was great, the staff both friendly& knowledgeable, and they vibe is money. Highly recommend.

I have only been there once, for the last Grrrz release. The food was excellent. Their Jamaican Jerk wings re the absolute best wings I've ever had. It remains to be seen if the beer alone would be worth the trip if there wasn't a release. Doesn't seem like they have any Grrrz on tap except for very small amount during the releases. Edgar on tap is very good, but I was not overly impressed with the rest of their offerings. I'd say its worth a stop if you're in the area, but temper your expectations.

Mattouse, what time are you going up on Sunday? It's looking like you'll have to pack your raincoat and umbrella.

This x 100. I forgot to mention this, but every time I've been here the people who work at Bullfrog have been some of the most pleasant people I've encountered in the service industry. Something I always am reminded of when I come here.

A side trip to Bullfrog looks to add only about thirty minutes onto my route through the bucolic hinterlands that make up north central PA. Not stopping there would mean pissing at a Sunoco in Lewisburg instead. It'll be October 22/23--I wasn't expecting any Grrrz; mostly just like hitting small breweries when traveling, especially when it breaks up a work trip. The bar is low, but I will lower it. Thanks.

I assume it's a takeoff on 'gueuze', so your way would make sense.

Side note: I remember reading an article that claimed 'gueuze' is pronounced "like 'ooze' but with a soft 'g' at the beginning". Let that sink in.

I never made that connection, and damn, it makes sense now that you mention it. The more you know.

I will only be at the Saturday morning release, but I hear there is still a very good chance of rain.

    Don't forget about Selin's Grove. I'd guess you're going on 80 and it's like 25 minutes south off 80.

Did Homestead end up getting Schnitzengiggle yet? Anyone give it a go? Thought it was really well done and up there with the better traditional Oktoberfest brews. I need to pick up Penn's again. I haven't had that in a while. I should start drinking more Oktoberfests, I think I like them more than pumpkin beers.

Have they release a bottle limit at DL for the release next week. If someone could pick me one up would gladly give some Florida goodness for one.

Heard of this place a few times, but never a personal endorsement. I always take place ratings for small towns lightly, as there's always the chance for significant homer bias. You been there and do you recommend?
