I've put up several ISOs for HF growlers over the last couple of weeks, and still no trades to show for it. I've gotten a few responses, so I feel like I'm close, but still haven't locked anything down yet. So I'm wondering, what trades have you completed involving growlers of Hill Farmstead beer lately? Perhaps it's just harder to trade for these than it used to be.

It depends on which beers you are looking for. Beers like Double Galaxy trades significantly higher than the more common ones like Edward. I have traded 750ml fills of Abner or Double Citra +a shelfie 2:1 for Grey Mondays, Black Tuesdays, and Chocolate Rain.

I think having to pack and ship out growlers may be a big deterrent for most people compared to bottles/cans

It may be hard to derive value from this one given how many bottles were involved, but take it for what you will:

    Vanilla Rye + 1 KBS + 1 BCBS for Double Citra 750 + Earl + Double Shot 750 + 1 Lights On + 4 Julius

I've traded a lot of HF Growlers and I usually only trade them if I'm getting something I really want. I traded what amounted to 7 750ml growlers for a Prop and VR. The reason I tend to want more shelf beers is because it's not easy to ship growlers so I almost always use bottle shippers and you run more of a risk of them exploding and having to replace them than regular bottles. You also have to make sure you ship right away and since HF isn't Sunday-Tuesday and most people ship on Mondays, I tend to find myself buying them on Wednesday and shipping the same day in hopes that the person gets them on Friday or Saturday. You also have to realize that HF is in the middle of nowhere so very few people live within close proximity and if someone is making that trip, they likely want to leave with a bunch of growlers for themselves and since it's a 5 growler limit right now, they may want all 5.

Yea, I have traded growers away, but like Jstampler said, it is only if there is something I really want, or if there is a reason I can't consume the growlers within 2 weeks of when I get them. It's a real pain in the ass having to worry about growlers shipped in the mail. You might want to attempt posting in IP and see if you get more bites.

Recent trades I have done is:
Huna 15 1:1 for Double Citra
    MW + GM for 3 750s

I am doing it wrong Jason.

I extra them in trades and fill out thank you/trustee boxes with 750s. They're no harder to pack/ship than most other 750 mL bottles.

Haha, you're a little closer than me luckily. Youre prob right Kevin, people freak out a little more than they should, unless you're sending handle growlers (haha). I mostly freak out about the beer holding up more than anything. I traded for two Black Tuesday variant growlers and they were both infected.

That I am, but it's not like I can walk there.

I've sent out somewhere in the realm of 25 in the last year or so and never had a problem.

You freak out about the beer holding up? Can't imagine that after our little shipping issue last year.

If you're looking for any of the bottled BT variants, LMK.

If anyone is truly worried about HF growlers holding up they should ship them usps. I frequently send them that way to the west coast and theyre there in 2days.

On a side note, ive consumed a 4 month old growler that was forgotten in a friends refrigerator and it was still perfectly carbed and tasty as hell.

    Sure thing.

All depends what you want and what I have.

Not sure if I'll make it back up to HF this year, but you never know!

    Reverse auction!

If you do make a trip and are interested, let me know. I'll peruse your outdated want list to see what I can accommodate.

    Will do.

    It's up to date.

I'm just not much of a ticker...lambic, gueuze, some American wilds and some BA saisons. That's about the sum of it.

I can hit those wants. And once we complete our trade, we can add the final details to this thread so we're completely on topic (albeit long-winded). Flawless victory!

It's my understanding that they don't limit how many of one beer you can get, but limit how many fills you can get on one trip through line (correct me if I'm wrong). So in theory the difference in HF growler trade value should be due to how often the beer is brewed, because if you look at a slate of beers on draft for a given day, it's just as easy to get five Double Galaxy as it is to get five Edward or Foster. I mention this because I hope people aren't seeking the world for these growlers. I quoted @jason3125 to see if he has thoughts on this.

I did a trade for HF 750s and growlers, and the nice guy said pick two of whatever draft for two JK 750s (and JK 750s for HF 750s). We missed Double Citra by a week, but the Conduct and Society variants were good. It might be that the beers you're offering just aren't interesting the people going to HF these days. Good luck.

    1:1 Dark lord
    2:1 Black Tuesday
    1:1 Wild Peach x2
    2:1 Saison du Fermier
    2:1 Pulling Nails
    3:1 Fou x2

Clearly a funny list to look at. More or less I just post a trade saying 'hey I'm headed up and this is what I want.' And the first person to message me wins the beer lottery because at the end of the day, it's only $10-13 of beer  I let whoever messages me pick out what they want from the tap list and it's a done deal.
