    Good afternoon/evening BAs! It's lovely here in the Northeast; it never got up to 60 degrees today, topping out at 59. Lovely, lovely fall day.

    So of course I'm taking advantage of it by firing up the grill and enjoying a beer outside.

    I've been working on this Veggy soup this afternoon while my significant other is teaching her yoga classes. The only thing not out of our garden is the carrots.

    I was going to add some turkey I smoked last weekend but think it would cover up the nice roasted vegetable flavors.
    Now I'm relaxing until she gets home with this from Southern Tier.

    One of my local breweries just released this gem. This is their second time aging this stout in a whiskey barrel but this time they added vanilla beans and coffee. Big whiskey, sweet, leather, vanilla, coconut but low on coffee.

    Finally, we are getting some rain. I have been buying singles of pumpkin beers here and there. Cisco Pumple Drumkin is a winner! Beautifully balanced with just the right amount of spices and it doesn't taste like McCormick preground spice mix. Very fresh.

    I feel like I am coming down with something. Good time to start a cabbage, bean and kale soup. Firing up the beans...

    And a very important weapon for executing any soup...Kombu! For umami.
