100% for sure it was. This is what they said on IG on Saturday about it.

Nagel is just an anagram for Angel, and this Angel Nagel snapped this pic of our brewers accepting the bronze medal for NOSE CANDY in the Session IPA category from the Dos Equis guy. Apparently that dude gets around, but I suppose that does make him fairly interesting... P.S., this is our first time getting a medal at GABF, so despite all of our loving fans and drinking buddies, we can finally feel validated that our beer is moderately ok to halfway decent.

I am surprised that this was their first medal. If anything they should of won for Naughty Sauce. Noble's IPA's are world class (IMO). But there are a lot of great IPA's out there already. Noble's IPA's are not okay or halfway there. They are much better than that. Don't get me wrong guys, but Nose Candy? Come On Man! If NC can win a medal, why not one of the Shower series? Or I Love It? It's like Beachwood's Julian not bringing his IPA's to Denver. There are soooo many great IPA's out there. Noble was crap the first year. Then Evan shows up and the dream team was created. Noble has made a name here in the OC. Otherwise they'd be like so many of the average or below average brewery's here in SoCal. Still congratulations to Evan and Noble team.
Maybe Evan should do like the rest and go out on his own and start up his own brewery > King Evan Brewing Co.

naughty sauce is the BOMB but it doesnt fit in to a category. judges are seeing if beers are made according to style and how well its been done, so its not a surprise that beer hasn't won anything.

Agreed, they have a number of solid (and better) IPAs, but Nose Candy is a home run. It's not just a good "session" IPA, it's a great IPA on its own.

http://www.worldbeercup.org/how-to-participate/beer-styles is pretty much identical to the GABF style guidelines except it says "other flavors may be infused". does that mean lactose is cool?

i guess the point im trying to make is just because a beer is wonderful and delicious it doesnt mean its award winning material if its not brewed to style. plenty of breweries out there making fantastic beer winning diddly squat!

Did you read the description in your link for coffee beer? Don't see any reason why Naughty Sauce couldn't fit in that category. The main reason that beer could never be entered in a competition is due to the fact it's on nitro.

to make another point of clarification, just because your respected Best IPA or what not did not win, really doesnt mean much. The GABF grading guidelines are very strict and some are very undeveloped(see their BA beer categories). In term this can mean that the guidelines are very vague or much too cynical. Its all made to the specific style.

come on... gabf is super fun to attend, but... natty fcking ice won best cream ale one year. The actual awards don't mean sht.

Awards don't mean shit to me. It's all about the beer. Awards will bring in more newbies to the brewery. That's all.

Exactly. Basically my point was that just because it's the only one they've won, doesn't mean they haven't deserved to win some in the past (or this year, for their other, more impressive beers).

This batch of Galaxy Showers may be one of the best Shower series releases yet. So juicy and soft, very similar to some of the Trillium and Tree House stuff I've had. Totally crushable @ 8.8% Glad I grabbed a bunch when it was released as its long gone now. Props to Noble who I think are becoming THE player in the So Cal craft market.

    Cheers…….

Just had a bottle of Trillium Vicinity 2 days ago and opened a bottle of Galaxy Showers yesterday. Yes, both were very similar in taste. I will say Vicinity still has that touch of east coast style to it. Tree House Julius has a lot more orange appearance and flavor. This Galaxy Shower is spot on. I managed to grab a few bottles myself.
