Red Wings at the Joe!! A nice walk from The Grand Trunk Pub, especially for Sat or Sun afternoon games! Or for a walk about the same distance the other direction, head to Batch Brewing Company. Since Michigan is the Great Beer State and Detroit is Hockey Town, plenty of other pubs near the Joe pouring great Michigan beer!

I'm miles and miles away from my beloved Sabres, I'll have to settle for watching the games on-line on my recliner, with my beer of the day

I played for 50 yrs, just retired last March after having my hip replaced. They do call it Beer league for a reason, "win or lose, we still get booze". :-) Unwritten rule, when it's your turn to bring beer, BMC is not acceptable.

Hudson Street Stackhouse in Baltimore is great for Caps/beer fans. Great beer list that rivals the best beer bars out there in quality, with $5 32oz beers for hockey fans.

Sorry, but I'm still in baseball mode--go Cubs!!

I have enjoyed the food ,drink and atmosphere at the Pearl St Grill before and after a Sabres game. Pens game is a crap shoot, but the Blue Line Grille is a nice new spot and its directly across the street.
Say what you will about Gordon Biersch , but I have enjoyed the place before Columbus Jackets games.

    Beer and hockey.....yes, please!

In my part of Texas, there are no real hockey bars. The local Fox and Hound will put it on if asked. Watched the last game of Pens and Red Wings when Pens won the cup. The game when Fleury denied Lindstrom to hold on for the win! Not a bad beer selection too!

The original HopCat is right around the corner from the Giriffins' home ice in GR. Founders is an easy walk as well.

I sure miss the Knollwood Tavern in Kalamazoo. It was an on-campus pub that was great for pre/post-games for WMU hockey. If you enjoy college hockey, the atmosphere at Lawson Arena is hard to beat.

There are a lot of bars/restaurants for Wild games, but since the inaugural season I have been going to Patrick McGovern's with my dad. Since I've been old enough to drink, we always get a pint Guinness.

Actually, the American Airlines Center in Dallas has the best bar in any arena, The Old No 7 Club  They may serve beer, but I'm not as I drink J.D. (and lots of it) when Im there. There is also the Havana Club right outside The AAC that is a a very good cigar bar (of couse, any place you can smoke cigars inside is good)

Yeah, Hopcat is not walking distance either. But they have over 100 beers on tap. Good place. Gonna go there on my next family visit to Detroit.

Sadly I'm in the same situation with the Sabres but some of my fondest memories from going to school in Buffalo in the late 70s was drinking Schmidt's on draft at the old Aud after buying tickets from street vendors (aka scalpers). Of course, if we couldn't score tickets we'd just go to some dive in downtown Buffalo and spend our ticket money on more beer.

You are showing your age there buddy. My room mate and I used to shoot pool there and close the place down several nights a week. Great atmosphere, unfortunately it was usually pitchers of MGD.
