Looks like a great list of local brews. Did you manage to sample some Ale Browar or Pinta overthere ?

Didn't see either tbh, unless Ale Browar was one of the beers from Browar Piwna? There's a real Craft Ale scene in Gdansk, best places were Labeerynt, Browar Piwna & Browar Trojmiejsti.

Continuing to fuck up my cellar with an big old bottle of Arbor & Moor Double Dark Alliance, I think from 2013. Also a bottle of Moulin-à-Vent. Being out of work is an annoyingly vicious cycle with more time to drink and recover, and less money to spend on drink.

Had a look in tesco, they didn't have either. Will try and get to aldi next week. Managed to find my magic rock high wire grapefruit I couldn't get at IMBC at the magnet tonight. Also had Buxton new world saison and brewsters aromatic potter

Cheers for this. I was mainly at Degustatornia as the dude behind the bar was very knowledgable and friendly and they had AleBrowar and Pinta there. Labeerynt looks fairly new from their web site but cracking and the other 2 must of passed me by. The Beetroot Pale Ale from Trojmiejsti looks interesting. Loved the city, as you could walk about 15 mins from the very picturesque main tourist area and find really cheap quality beer and food. Hope to return soon to scope these out.

Just had a bottle of Founders Curmudgeon. Lovely strong easy drinking ale but definitely a sipper for a cold winters night.

Cheers man. Trojmiejstsi was great, though when we were there they were out of Beetroot Pale Ale and Milk Stout :slight_frown:. The Oatmeal Stout more than made up for that tho'. Degustatornia looked fab, however when we turned up the girl behind the bar really couldn't be arsed with us. we ordered 2 beers and waited for about 20mins...no beer. Went back to the bar and asked where our beers were, she wasn't impressed. we left. Would recommend Browar Piwna instead. Labeerynt is defo the place to go though...outstanding.

Sorry for dragging this out, but Mrs. Kozel said she had Pinta in Labeerynt and only realised that when I mentioned your post to her. Also had a fab IPA in Labeerynt and when it was poured the barmaid handed me a dice (die?) numbered 1-10, you paid whatever you rolled. I rolled 7 1st time (£1.40) and 4 (£0.80) 2nd time, would have paid £4-£5 in Glasgow or Edinburgh for a beer of that quality.

So I am in York and went past trembling madness and saw the entire core range of dogfish head beers unbelievably. Picked up the 90 minute ipa and Midas touch.

Was in my local 'Spoons tonight for their Beer Festival, had...

    Broughton - Dark Dunter,
    Young Henry - Real Ale,
    Flying Dutchman - Spiced Ale,
A Czech dark ale called Black Knight, didn't get the brewer's name. Just googled it, Pivovar Nomad, excellent.

Woah. Love both those beers, 2 of the first Americans I had when I first started drinking 5 years ago.

I had the 60 minute when I was in America 2 years ago. Read about them when I got back and was so upset I couldn't buy them here any more. Passed up the chance to get the bitches brew because it was $20. I would buy it at that cost in a heartbeat today.

I've stopped subjecting myself to the Spoonsfests, hauling myself across town to sample one indifferent festival beer with three regular beers taking up the rest of the wickets.

Tonight, Northern Monk 822 IPA, nice enough but ridiculously pricey.

LOL, you won't. Different times, different problems. Mortgage, kids, cars/vans, they'll come and go, but you'll still be skint. Drink while you can my beauties, for tomorrow...you may not!!!

Perhaps the Fullers store is accurate and I can sell this case of 2014 Vintage Ales for a fortune in 2050? Or trade it for clean water and fuel, depending on how the fortunes of the earth pan out.

Yeah, maybe. Good luck with that.

I remember drinking Furstenberg Antonious dark ale in 1984 in Glasgow when no one else was drinking dark ale. I've spent each year since then looking for quality German/Belgian/Czech/UK beers to enjoy. I've since realised that beer isn't confined to Europe and have searched far and wide for good/quality beer, and always will.
