Three additional updates to round out the weekend:

    - Stone Saloon (St. Paul) is having an open house today, from 3-7 P.M.
    - JT Brewing Company (Minneapolis) - Plan is a few years in, and a northeast Minneapolis taproom is in the offing.
    - Publiq Brewing Co. http://publiq.mn/ - The plan has been postponed for five years (c.f. 9/2015 Facebook post).

Another NE taproom? At what point do business plans or financing people value charting your own area/geography versus being the 29th (ok, a little facetious) brewery in an area?

Bad Habit in St. Joseph is shooting for an Oct. 24 opening according to their reply to a comment on their Facebook page. I haven't heard any official announcement about it yet, so it may be a soft opening of it happens,

Might have to make the 5 minute run there if that's the case.

I live in Jordan and I am guessing this is the old OK Corral (on 169), they are turning it into a supper club. From what I have heard, one of the families associated with one of the orchards is involved, so the cider angle.

I stopped by Roet's a few weeks ago and it is looking great...great guys too. I am not Tim, so I am not going to speculate on their opening, but I am excited for it. Having the possibility of both of these in town is only good for business. They are completely different, will mark for a great day trip...Jordan, Shakopee, Belle Plaine (Blakley), and Montgomery.

Five Years? That sounds more like the death of the idea than its postponement.

Stopped by Birch's On The Lake this evening. They have a very large parking lot, and at 8 pm on a Wednesday night, people were parking on the road. The lot is full of BMWs and Mercedes. The upper level is the supper club which I did not venture into, and the lower level is the brewpub. Manage to shoehorn myself a spot at the bar after convincing a woman to put her bag on the floor so I could have the stool. A lot of pretty people in this place and I feel a bit underdressed. They went full brewpub with a full bar, wine, and guest taps. They had four of their own beers on-tap. The pilsner was excellent. Just a nice clean, delicate, fresh pilsner. Had the witbier. Seems they wanted to temper the Belgian yeast qualities a bit but it definitely tasted Belgian. Could not taste the pepper or cardamom. The final pint was the chocolate, coffee, golden ale. Do not usually get those flavors in a golden ale. Could definitely taste both the chocolate and coffee. Just had a sample of the Berliner Weiss. It was good, but I think we have been spoiled on Star of the North. But something I will explore further when I go back. They are trying to introduce a new beer every Friday and hope to get seven of their beers on at all times. I think a pale ale and an Indian Brown are coming up in the coming weeks. I was expecting good things knowing the brewer had some serious brewing chops (former head brewer of Schalfly Taproom), and I feel they delivered. Looks like a 10bbl brew house with 7 fermenters.

The other. Ordered food, never got it. When I ordered my third beer I told a bartender I never received the food and to cancel my order. Then the bartender that took my order came over and told me to please wait and she would have the kitchen fire it again and they would comp it. I got it in 5 minutes and was comp'd so that was good. The food was good but very overpriced. It would of been $10 for two small pork belly tacos. Sandwiches look like a better deal. Do not have an extensive menu in the brewpub yet but I am told it will expand as time goes on.

As long as there are people from the suburbs taking bus tours of NE taprooms, there will be breweries wanting to locate there.

I also went to the Bad Weather taproom opening last week. and it was unbelievable. Great location, beautiful space, big patio, easy to find street parking-- I will definitely be a regular. I like a lot of the taprooms in the Twin Cities, but for me it always comes down to the quality of the beer. I have always liked their beer, and it tastes even better coming out of their new equipment, but I was an even bigger fan of the new taproom recipes, especially the nitro and cask options. I have tried a few ESBs with tea (or brown ales with tea) before and never cared for them, but strangely enough my favorite beer at Bad Weather was their ESB with earl gray tea on nitro (called "Tippin in Down"). I never quite had a beer like that before. That new rye porter (Galactic porter?) was also very good. I am anxious to see what new recipes these guys will come up with.

Here are two* plans that I'd meant to add a couple of months back:

    - Lush Brewery (Twin Cities) -- that's a Twitter account, but there's also a placeholder Facebook page.
    - Highway 61 Brewing (Rollingstone) -- also on Facebook.

Also, the brewmaster at Nutmeg Brewhouse has confirmed that they will open soon, likely before the end of the year.

*I found these among a handful of homebrew plans. :sunglasses:

How many breweries can the thriving metropolis of Rollingstone support? I think they are reaching their saturation point.

Stopped at Bad Weather today, and I must say I'm very impressed. Large beer list, cool tap room, all around nice atmosphere. I'm very happy to have it within 15 minutes walking. I was impressed with the Scarecrows Friend, a pumpkin/fall ale, I normally despise pumpkin beers but this one was done very well, not overpowering in anyway but let you know what it was trying to do. The green tea ale was also quite tasty, as was the fresh hop. I think they'll do very well for themselves in the future if they keep up the good work.

Looks like they are producing labels so I wonder if they are going full distribution like Olvalde and not the taproom route. If you have ever been to Rollingstone you know it as a place you do not necessarily stop at. I did get a tattoo at the shop there one drunken night. It is holding on pretty well almost 20 years later.
