Had some Nordic Noir today, pretty good, though all the beers I had today suffered from the same problem as all the spoons cask I've had so far - too cold
Also had some Truman's bitter and export. Decent stuff, great to see the brand I've been reading so much about in history books revived.

I know what you mean. Been in a few 'Spoons where this has been a problem, however, my local one has bar staff who seem to know what they're doing.

I think they sold out pretty quickly.

I snaffled a couple of bottles along with some Red Admiral - they'd sold out later that day. Looking forward to seeing what the fuss is all about.

    You won't be disappointed!

The Good King Henry that has sold out, is it the vintage or regular? It would seem strange that the regular stuff has sold out seing as I was able to buy last year's on Eebria up until at least May.

The special reserve (vintage), I think. Regular is still available.

In the end I got Red Admiral, GKH (reg), GKH special reserve, Barbastelle, Scarlet Tiger, Red Stag & Parnassus. They all sounded good, and when in Rome...

Yeah sorry the vintage. The regular one's been up for a while, and presumably they made a lot more.

Drinking Fullers 1845 - one of Martyn Cornell's examples of modern beers that are basically what old Burton Ales would have tasted like (I also tried Marstons Owd Rodger and Theakston Old Peculiar the other day). This is my favourite of the 3. Also I think it's great how Sainsburys do the Fullers range for £2 each. Seriously, this and even Golden Pride are £2 each. That's cheaper than direct from the brewery.

2 years of ageing and it's d-bloody beautiful. Good King Henry eat your heart out.

@Hoppsbabo : that would be awesome. If it's not served on cask it should be.

I do love Fullers though I felt the brewery itself was a bit frosty when I visited last. Though I realised later that may be just them judging me for ordering a pint of ESB at 11am on a Thursday. In my defence, I'd just worked Sunday to Wednesday so it was my Saturday, also it had been my birthday the day before.

I thought that was bottle only but according to ratebeer it is occasionally found on cask

They don't sell them in Sainsburys up here, its annoying. Although there is a Waitrose that stocks them all at least

Their past masters Old Burton Extra is still on offer on their website, although it's past its sell by date I assume they will still be good
