I never saw a ton on the shelves to start, compared to the waves of other cans to hit the shelves. Haven't seen it since the week it was released.

Just got ahold of some Ninja vs. Unicorn cans. How do you decipher the freshness? The bottom is imprinted with "23," and the fill-in-the-blank portion just below the UPC area is filled in with "50515C6CC012." Hopefully that means Oct. 23?

Weird....their fans are supposed to have the full date. "10/23/15," as an example. Must have had an issue

Thanks. Just to clarify -- the "23" on the bottom isn't in ink, it's the kind of large numbering where the metal is slightly raised.

Either you got a can that the date printer missed or you got a can from the first canned batch, a batch that most (if not all) didn't get date stamped.

Yeah, I'm thinking it might be the latter, which it looks like was from mid-July?

My best guess is that the first five digits in "50515C6CC012" equate to May 15, 2015, with the first 5 standing for the year. Though I'm pretty sure that's just when the cans were printed, not filled.

No huge deal. Just got a couple in a trade and was just hoping they weren't really old.

I got a 4-pack a few days ago that was delivered last week, and they were not dated.

Commonly most breweries' date coders dont hit 100% of the time, the date coder is not always reliable, I highly doubt that it is from the first batch. Its much more likely that some sections of a canning run didn't get coded that are more recent than July. We were not canning in May, so that isn't a possibility. The date code is a tiny set of numbers that will be 102815 for example, which translates to October 28th 2015 usually found on the very bottom of a can or, around the silver rim separating the silver base and the printed artwork . There are no other printed numbers or anything that gets printed additionally, and it will definitely not look like it is part of the can's printing by the can manufacturer.

I enjoyed Heaven Hill Jones Dog at FOBAB. Abduction and the other Jones Dog were excellent, as well.

After having Atlas' Mage/Fighter/Thief with Cherry, I look forward to a barrel aged Lookout.

@NOTpipeworks FYI, your recent email has a reserve date of "Monday December 30th 11:59 PM". Should be November (just in case anyone throws a fit by procrastinating).
