So much better on draught than bottle.

Yeah I noticed it doesn't seem to be conditioned in the bottle unlike the West Indian Porter.

Heads up for any Londoners - craft beer clerkenwell has a couple of Hopcraft beers on including their Pennine Mild which I've heard is immense

Mashtag 15. Not bad but very bitter.

Nice pic. Nothin like giving the two fingers with a warming smile or making sure you don't spill your ale pour whilst avoiding the camera.

Good news, popped into my local 'Spoons after a 'kin hectic week at work with Mrs. Kozel, we had,

Revisionist - Green Hop, pretty decent ale, but not as hoppy as I would've liked.

Oakham - Owl and the Pussycat, really nice, fresh session beer.

Minagof - Smoked Porter, an acquired taste for some, but it was like a few Rauch Alt's I've tried...nice.

    From tomorrow,

Harviestoun - Old Manor & Titanic - 7 C's (see what they did there)

BAD NEWS!!! When I was in tonight the staff told me 'Spoons had put the bar up for sale because it wasn't making enough money. Firstly, I'm gutted because I live in a small town and it's my only local outlet for decent beer (selfish), Secondly I'm gutted because it is genuinely busy most of the time and I've often though that it's actually too cheap (£1.89 for a guest ale, honestly). I'm thinking about sending an e-mail to headquarters to ask the to put the prices up, otherwise it's trips to Glasgow and Edinburgh for yours truly for a decent pint.

Followed Bevis' tip and had a Guinness FES which I poured onto a splash of Hop Bomb & it really does work!

Go for it. I still think £2.80 in the 'spoons I was in was incredibly cheap for a pint. Genuinely never seen beer in a pub for under £1.99.

The spoons here seem to drop the price of pints mon-thursday

Also when they have their fests on they all tend to be in their cheapest price band

The ones I had this week were all £1.95, in the centre of glasgow

Deuchars IPA is £1.49 all the time I think. I still wouldn't buy it though

Seriously...our 'Spoons is unbelievably cheap, it is £1.69-£1.89 for our guest ales...Just put the prices up a wee bit FFS.

I know what you're saying, those prices are amazing for any city centre. Disappointing thing for me is that my 'Spoons has become a bit of a community hub for like minded beerhounds. Still disappointing tho' :slight_frown:

Working on a polypin of homebrewed Burton (with ekgs from the garden), and made a serious dent in it last night. It's dangerously drinkable, being less sickly than one like the Owd Rodger or Old Peculiar. Bit headachey this morning to say the least.

I've got a burton on the homebrew list. Just going to throw huge amounts of english hops at it and hope for the best

Works do to the Butcombe brewery with tour and free bar :

    Butcombe Rare Breed
    Butcombe Bitter
    Butcombe Haka
    Butcombe Bohemia

Stand out was undoubtedly Haka, lovely NZ hopped amber ale. Bohemia, a nice crisp hopped Pilsner would definitely drink again over many similar types.

Maneer De Uil (Mr Owl), an 11.3% Dutch impy stout aged in whisky barrels. Considering a slightly better-than-average impy stout can bring one close to ecstasy this falls way short.

That washing-up liquid aroma is Oakham's trademark.

Yep. Buxton is one of the smallish number of breweries that I would definitely buy a case from. Great range and quality.

I'm on a 15.6% Dutch 'Black barleywine aged with pears in 1996 Mortlach whisky casks' called Peer Pressure. It's pretty good.
