    Are any fellow Montanans interested in keeping a thread up to date with Montana beer, musings, and meet ups? I'm in the Flathead, still looking for folks to share with.

    I saw 4-packs of the delicious Big Sky Ivan the Terrible 2015 in town. Next visit to the store, I am picking up some. Damn good beer!

    Yepper, Ivan has also hit shelves in Sheridan too! Really damn good beer, bill!!

    I do not know of any meet ups but I wonder if there is also home brew clubs that meet up frequently in MT?

    I think your best chance for beer tastings would be finding out when distributors are doing tastings.

    In other MT beer news, Meadowlark brewing out of Sidney started canning and got some distro across the state. Only 2 beers to start but still pretty cool. An extra pale ale and scotch style wee heavy rye.

    Not really looking for distributor/industry tastings where they're pushing product, just folks to hang around with. Even at the local breweries around here there aren't many people looking to expand their drinking horizons. Maybe (hopefully?) I'll run into someone buying BCBS next week. Local bottle shop just posted that they got the Badlands Extra Pale, might pick some up if the cans/packs are dated/fresh.

    Have you had a chance to try Flathead Lake's wine-barrel-aged Biere de Garde? I have high hopes since their new head brewer used to run the barrel-aging program at Deschutes.

    EDIT: Also, this would be awesome, though I don't live here anymore. Just back in the Flathead for the holidays.

    It would help if Montana wasn't such a spread out state. Every town has completely different distro, and MT breweries distro was more statewide. Billings is way different then Missoula. Missoula is way different then kalispell. And so on and so on.

    I haven't been down there for a few weeks, so I'll have to check it out. I haven't seen them post anything about it. I assume it's probably down at the old Woods Bay location? If you're around for the holidays feel free to hit me up!

    I concur - the distribution is ridiculous here. It's like we're living in three different states half the time.

    They're selling it in bottles but I wouldn't be surprised if those are already gone! Though their website says it's on draft. And hell yeah, I'm here until a little after Christmas! Though not an old dude with spiky blue hair, I'm 25 and look like I'm 18, apparently.

    Ha, shows how much I pay attention to the local selection of bottles/cans :slight_frown:

    I'll pick one up tomorrow!

    Firestone Walker is in MT now! Have also seen Upslope in western MT. And have heard Oskar Blues will be starting distro soon!

    Summer sun garden and brew tweeted that Oskar Blues will be hitting distro in about 2 weeks. They are Missoula so not totally sure if the state will be covered right away.

    Ballast Point (older dated bottles though, not sure how fresh they arrive to the rest of the country) and Firestone Walker at City Vineyard in Billings, Oskar Blues should be arriving within the month.
