We've gotten 6 inches of snow so far today. It's still falling fairly heavy. I couldn't think of what else to do but open a bottle of Bells 30th Anniversary. (I probably could have thought of something else to do). So I'm sitting here watching the snow fall and enjoying this excellent brew. I would have had a bad beer today, but to be honest and not to brag, there's naught a bad beer in the house. I do appreciate the spirit in which bad beers are being consumed and those who are "taking one for the team". My glass is raised in salute.

    Cheers...

Why do I continue to torture myself every week watching Cuse football? I don't know. At least I enjoy the beer

Beer mail arrived this morning. In a house full of kids running around (5 of ours and neighbors) and our dogs, when I heard "it's the mailman" and saw the FedEx truck out the window, I was down the stairs and out the front door before any of them.

    Alas, one soldier was wounded...

Slow bleed from a head wound, got it right in the cap...

The bottle was lower, but not too bad. Only one thing to do, put him out of his misery...

The bottle died a hero. Beer tastes just fine.

Actually, The Green Slime was the pilot episode for MST3K on KTMA. Only a 14 minute segment of it is currently available, crude compared to what was to come. And yes, I'd love to see the whole thing for some future simulcast viewing.

Looked high and low..no turkeys in either fridge..so starting the day in salute of Mr 50 and drinking a Sculpin. Figure a few IPAs won't hurt before I dive into south of the border beers.

    Can I play Turkey day?

This is the oldest bottle in my fridge(most meet a swift fate) its over a year maybe two not sure its been in the back corner hiding. It has survived many drunken escapades over the years but today it meets its maker.

The smell is not bad, like a sweet root beer NA.
The flavor starts out as good root beer then about midway through the palate all that changes. There is a sickly sweetness that just can't be smacked off my lips. Some other off flavors that I have no experience with but out of the half dozen or so one is a ever so slight oxidation. Mouth feel is nasty that is all. A lingering aftertaste of regret and remorse. My stomach hurts, not going to pour the rest into my glass but somewhere.. I know its not a beer but it has been haunting me from the back of my fridge for too long.

    Cheers?

Sorry to disappoint, but I'm not tasting the 'Rare' in the Bourbon County at FOBAB. Save your money and buy the Coffee, Regal, Barleywine, or regular instead. Happy weekend all!

Sorry guys I cannot participate in today's activities. Ever since my doctor informed me of my liver's woes and heavily restricted my alcohol intake, I simply haven't the will to drink any beer that isn't tasty. I am enjoying those of you who are rising to the occasion however. Starting my day with Curmudgeon Old Ale. Cheers.

My offering for the Turkey beer fest is this stinker from New Glarus, I believe the label was misspelled and Oud Bruin should have been spelled "Odd Brewin". The style just may not be for me, but as my lowest rated beer (2.44) still in my possession it fits the Turkey beer theme nicely. It smells like straight up apple cider vinegar, and tastes like carbonated apple cider vinegar that might have had been aged inside of an old leather boot. I can see why this one is in the retired, brewed only once category.

'14 Vanilla Rye on tap, I can say the vanilla has really blended well now. Doesn't have that strong syrupy vanilla tase.

    Cheers!

No turkey beers in my fridge. Maybe I'll swing by Circle K later. I know they a fridge stocked with them. In the meantime, my wife just told me she mailed me a box with Alabama beers. (She's visiting a friend for the weekend.). This calls for a celebratory beer. This is my second beer from Flying Dog's single hop line. Very good.
