Simple question. Was it a beer tour?

Once, when I was about 4. Supposedly I won the equivalent of $200 in a slot machine and then ate some bad fish and pooped my pants. (Supposedly because I obviously don't remember very much that happened when I was 4.) Why was I eating fish in Germany? Fuck if I know.

My one and only time was in '68 at the airport. I had a beer there. I think it was Henninger.

England yes, Germany no. I have picked up a lot about the fatherland through osmosis, though. That's nothing like being there, but it is definitely on my list of things to do (let's say...a 50% beer-related tour).

Well, I do have a friend who would be an amazing guide and he's always saying how I should go with him. I'm getting to the point in my life where I just may be able to do just that. Hopefully we can pull it off.

Yes, I've been there and no, it wasn't a beer tour. When I worked in industry (before going into academe), I visited Germany 3 times on business. Each time, I spent a few vacation days over there.

"Genetic engineering lets us correct God's horrible, horrible mistakes. . . like German people!"

I can't help but notice the first season of South Park said nothing about German beer.

I spent some time in Munich visiting my brother at brew school. Lots of great beer but I got bored of it by the end of the week. The most exciting thing you could find at most places was a wheat beer and that sometimes came with some German local mumbling "weissbier ist scheissebier." How clever.

Yeah, they're perfectly balanced, well executed beers. Very true. That said, I'll take the American craft beer scene any day of the week.
