Blue Moon probably...haven't had one in a while (out of principle) but I suspect that when I do drink one again, I'll say "huh, this is actually really tasty!"

Leinenkugels always my go to, and when I am back home in MN I always order at least one. However, Jacks Abbey Red Tape Lager really reminds me of Bud Light done well. So, while in MA my blue pill is JA, in MN it's Leinies.

Why would I want to go back to bad beer? :astonished:

But if you're talking about a simple, easygoing, no nonsense beer for throwing back multiples, give me a nice crispy hoppy pilsner, like Sierra Nevada Nooner or Sixpoint The Crisp.

It's a reference to the movie the Matrix and choice between an ignorantly blissfull and easy way but one that lacks truth and reality (what the OP refers to as enjoying readily available Macro swill) or the way of the truth through a more difficult path to live by (the rigorous and perpetual journey for the perfect craft beer).

Don't know how this happened to a guy from Kansas, but mine is Shiner Bock.

Same here - after a rugby match, that first beer can be the cheapest swill but it still hits the spot.

My club typically has a keg of Yuengling for after match socials. But many teams go the light beer route and I don't turn up my nose - as long as it's cold so the favor is muted.

I understand the reference, but when it comes to beer, I definitely do not regret choosing the red pill! :stuck_out_tongue:

For me it was two different ones. Either Coors Lt or Molson Canadian. I stated with the Coors just to drink it then I went to the Molson because I thought it was cool. More Molson than Coors I would say.

No such thing. If I had not found the red pill, I'd be a wine drinker.

Bud Select, similar flavor to Bud Light (I actually dig it, takes me back to college), fewer calories, higher alcohol. It's the perfect cheap beer.

This is why I drink Coors Light. The blue mountains help me keep perspective.

Budweiser, drank lots of it years ago, but every now then I have one as my cousin only drinks Buds, so when I visit that's what I'm having.

Gonna nitpick a little here with the polarity of the OP's Matrix-themed blue pill/red pill beer analogy. In the movie The Blue Pill Morpheus offered Neo would have kept him imprisoned by the illusion of the Matrix. The Red Pill on the other hand would reveal the true nature of the world – the no-man's land of the Machine world above and the limitations of Zion below. Didn't Cypher want to escape that reality and go back into the Matrix (i.e. take the blue pill) so he could eat steak again and enjoy the myriad of other sensory pleasures it had to offer (illusory though they were)? From that perspective, shouldn't the beer analogy actually be the opposite of the OP's: Blue Pill = unlimited variety of flavorful brews, thinking that more is always better, whereas Red Pill = coming back to reality and realizing that more basic/balanced beers can still be enjoyed?
Sorry if I went too geek there. :flushed:

Sounds like I've gone further down the rabbit hole than most of you. I did have an Amber Bock at Thanksgiving and it was enjoyable.
