Wait, so is this beer just going to drop at a random time tomorrow?

I don't recall any variants ever of Trade Winds, and it being a year round beer I'd hardly think they'd want the shitstorm of people pissed off about an online sale of something 'mainstream'.

    That's how it reads, yes.

Anyone have an idea of when chocolate salty bbls and juggling walruses will be put on at the tasting room?

randomish. no earlier than 10AM PST.

@mattolesh, can you tell us the idea/rationale behind the random release times? Seems kinda senseless but if you want to make it really work for you I'd suggest putting some ad space on the store so you can make some money off of all that F5ing.

Because it spreads out the load. I, for one of the few, I guess, am totally fine with random times. I welcome it, actually. And I'm not even close to being an F5er.

I'm personally not gonna give a shit because I can't run out to my car to check and see if a beer popped up on my phone on the regular and I also can't view the vast majority of alcohol sites like this one to see when stuff pops up from my desk. Other people will buy it so they won't really lose any money but they probably won't be getting any from me.

I'll probably sleep through the whole thing, so, yeah, no biggie.

I'd assume the random release times are also so the site doesn't crash, as it has previously.

Buuuuut, then it creates and encourages a situation where you need to constantly refresh the website in order to see if it's on there.

It's one of those "nice on paper, but in execution is actually worse" situations, like a ban on plastic bans. You think it's helping, but it's actually making the problem worse because now people will be slamming the website constantly.

Agreed. That's the dumb side effect, and the one that not only makes it worse for potential buyers (us), but their servers too. If the first couple days go poorly, perhaps they change it up for the back end.

Or you could just check every hour or two. Oh, shit, I forgot, it could be a "I might be able to score a half drunk bottle of 6 month old Dinner for this .rar whalez CRAFT BEER". Nevermind.

See, you or I will be thinking like "Do I really fucking need another bruery beer? Eh, I'll just check randomly." But with Run BMC and so many waaaay past their prime beers that got snatched by the newmoney new blood, that shit is going to be constantly refreshed on the regular that it's not spreading out the server load.

It would also be different if they just said "It's randomized at the top or bottom of the hour", and that could save some load. But nope, it's just completely random on when it'll be updated and thus, people are going to constantly refresh that every few minutes at least.

They are going to announce the beer on Facebook at the time of the online sales. Just F5 on the facebook instead of crashing the Bruery's terrible service provider

Say it ain't so! I have a Prop and a Regal on the way.

I think it's funnier that he'll go for a '09 BT straight up. There's probably a few thousand Prop, but most likely only a few dozen '09 left. Most of the people who have '09 are probably holding it to eventually do a ten year vertical or something of that nature.

I usually get ***** on the BCBS variant trades, but I keep doing it each year because I've yet to find one I didn't like. And most are delicious. Weird because I'm actually not a big fan of regular BCBS.

I think the discussion at hand isn't about when the beer is up, but what purpose is there really to making it a randomized time.

If you say it'll be on the site at noon, the site will obviously get hammered at noon. But if you make it random and then announce it on facebook or whatever other social media (because hey, why not get more factors thrown into the mix to make it more convoluted) and announce the beer and say it's up then, you're still going to have a slammed website.

Soooo, the question is what exactly is it that you're avoiding by making it more complicated?

Also, I'm not sure that I read into that brief email that it'll be posted online when it's on sale, more so that the beer will be revealed at 10.

You know why it's probably random this year? They got tired of people bitching when it didn't come up at exactly 10am.

It was midnight every time last year right? I had to wake up at 3 a.m each day. That was rough 12 days.
