This is the best comment so far! I drove up from Charleston, SC (left home at 0430 arrived at 1045) and waited for the beer. I made the decision to head up earlier based on comments about this release, the note hardywood put out about increasing the limit, and experience at other releases. Our "hobby" is getting crazy, with flippers, hoarders and others joining us in line. I was about 300 or so in line at that time. Got all I wanted, including CM, BAGBS and GBS too.

How early do you expect people to get there for the next one? 9am, 6am, 3am? Where does it stop?

So if you everyone showed up at 3am and you showed up at 915 and got shut out, what would the answer be?

Left Charlotte 430am got in line at 930am approx 50 in line......I did not even buy the full allotment, just wanted a few bottles to enjoy. I have been shut out before several times but never blame anyone but myself. This time I wanted to make sure that I got bottles......To blame the brewery and call it a "colossal screw up" is just ridiculous......I am glad that I don't own a brewery as it seems whatever they do they get criticized on this website.

This is besides the topic, but I was a witness to two different scumbags who made it through for allotment and continuously attempted to pay folks to let them in line near the front. I was steaming.

No dog in this particular fight, but I'm leaning towards thinking that the ONLY reasonable ways to do a release anymore are pre-sold tickets or silent release. These announced releases are just getting absurd. The idea that people should have to wait in line for 5+ hours to have a shot at even a mediocre beer release these days, and that so many people are growing accustomed to seeing that as normal, is staggering to me, and frankly just beyond silly. I don't judge those who are willing to do such things, but the idea that doing so is mandatory for a shot at getting a limited beer just doesn't sit well with me.

This should probably be just Cycle now a days. CCB is no longer the flavor of the week and now their releases sit in teh cooler in the tasting room for a week to a month (or longer). Usually its a "silent" release...just put in in the cooler one afternoon and they don't post about it on social media till the next day.

Camo overalls? I see that along with his classy attempts to pay people to cut the line, his style of dress is classy and pure sex.

@wordupmagazine Yes! He was one of the two I saw. Myself and anyone who noticed would call him out to get him to stop. Im not going to get violent, but I was not afraid to use some words. My bet is he succeeded at least once. On more than once I saw him carrying a full case to a car that had just pulled up onto Ownby. Who knows.

I'm with you mostly, I don't get standing in line for beer. I have no problem missing out on limited stuff, it's not a priority in life to me.

I do have a pro release day opinion though. It creates a day for beer fans to enjoy some good beer and drink with friends. Plus, it gives the brewery some publicity and a chance to fill their doors with smiling faces and good times. I have only been at Brothers as an employee for a few months, but I've been friends with them before the tanks even showed up. The day after last year's Resolute release, the 2015 release started getting planned. Adam was always reaching out to a few of us on ideas as customers and we would have conversations weekly on things they would come up with. He would send us drafts of emails, we would give our thoughts. Bad release days are going to happen. The turn around we had here for this year's Resolute Day was fantastic. HW will hopefully put plans in place to avoid problems. As the industry grows, things are bound to go south, but those are learning moments and hopefully everyone, brewery and customers alike, learn something.

Just to clarify, I think release days can be a blast and would actually prefer that to a silent release. But I still think a release has got to be ticketed. This standing in line for hours upon hours nonsense is getting out of hand.

Can't wait for next years Resolute release day! I just hope that I'm in far better shape at 10 am on the release day that I was for this past release! Almost throwing up after choking down an Abrasive was not a good start to the day, and then diving into Resolute, Coconut and Double Vanilla was ROUGH, I powered through and had a great day!

You know I heard some guys walking by me talking and laughing about no one knowing they went through the line again or something. I thought very little of it, but it makes sense based on how quickly KY Xmas sold out. I got there about 1145 and heard KY Xmas Morning sold out about 15 or so people after me. Wish I knew who this person(s) was/were , as I'd have no problem calling them out on some local Facebook pages. This type of nonsense is the stuff that really turns me off on the whole beer scene these days. Oh well.

Great post, I am with you 100%. The lengths people go to get beer and the addition of beer scalpers and mules is changing the culture for the worst.

Anyone seen either of these local in Richmond? I'm down from NJ and would love to get my hands on something good. Even regular bourbon gbs or Christmas morning.

Let me know, thanks in advance.

I was at this release and yes it was a major shitshow to say the least. Shut out of bottles 15 people in front me. Got to the table to purchase bottles and I asked for a full allotment of AB GBS, along with regular Christmas Morning and BA GBS, they put it in a box, I didn't pay much attention to it, get home later that night to realize that they only gave me 4 bottles of AB GBS when I paid for 6. Needless to say, my day went from :grinning: to  to :astonished: to :grimacing: to :slight_frown: to

    Cool. Thanks for the help.

Thought a few posts talked about it getting limited local distro. Also, was looking for the other beers I mentioned.
