Hmm, not much detail there. Are there flavors of citrus? Or flavors of dank? Or...?

    Cheers!

I hope this isn't a big increase in price. The going price around here for storm king and dirtwolf (two of their best) is 7.99. With a price of 9.99 that is 25% more.

Agreed the flavor description could use some work, but the main reason I posted that was because I thought some people [like you] might like more detail about the beer's composition.

Personally, I went looking for the beer's ABV, which wasn't in the original press release, and found the link above. I'm often skeptical of beers that use simple sugars, like agave syrup, will be too hot with alcohol, but 7% isn't too bad. I'll pick up a sixer or get a draft if I see it in my travels.

Yeah, this isn't good. Just put up a review for it and I feel lucky I went with my gut and only bought two singles (one for now, one for a few weeks juuuust in case ) instead of a four-pack... It seems like they actually forgot to put hops in it, as there's very little aroma to speak of other than a crudely sweet and mildly vegetal scent. I probably wouldn't have thought "grapefruit" at all if they hadn't listed it on the bottle, but I guess I could pick up a little bit on the nose. On the tongue, this is just a cloying, sweet mess.

Granted, I'm drinking it like 3 days old apparently (Victory uses best-by dates, not born-on dates and as far as I'm aware this went out on New Year's...? Correct me if I'm wrong, but it doesn't really matter anyway), but this is very much a filtered beer and it's not like something like that to suffer from "green-ness." I'd avoid this one. Still gonna check out the next few in the series, but for now I'll stick to Grapefruit Sculpin and keep my eyes out for Grapefruit Rebel if I need a citrus-flavored IPA.

Those beers are $9.49 at my local retailers and I am local to the brewery(s).

Be thankful you live in DE.

    It sucks here in PA.:slight_frown:

    Cheers!

I wonder what the point in adding the agave is?

I know, but trust me. It's a six pack, same price as a six pack of Golden Monkey and same price as a case of Dirt Wolf, Storm King, Golden Monkey etc.

That's cool. I will try it at $10 a six but not a four.

    Enjoy

Jack, I had it yesterday at the D'town brewpub. First, before attempting to describe the aroma/flavor profile of this beer, I need to suggest that before sampling/tasting this beer that you need to let it warm up. Otherwise, it will be very difficult to discern an aroma and a taste that will have you scratching your head saying what did I just taste. Once the brew warms, a faint, but discernible hop aroma is present. The taste has a noticeable sweetness from the agave syrup. The finish has a slightly tart, pleasant taste. To me, this would be a very enjoyable summer brew. It really goes down quite easy and to me is quite refreshing. Hope that gives at least one person's opinion.

Firstly, thanks for taking the time to post your impressions of this beer.

I was very much stricken by your statement of: “Once the brew warms, a faint, but discernible hop aroma is present.”

I must confess that I was not expecting that! The vast majority of contemporary IPAs typically have very noticeable hop aroma. I wonder what Victory did differently in brewing this particular beer? Hmm?

    Cheers!

.. And I hope most people feel that way and leave it easily accessible. Victory at sea and grapefruit sculpin have me following Ballast point releases as obsessive as I do stones.

Victory at Sea is a good beer. But I don't need grapefruit, pineapple, or watermelon in my beer.
