I can't say I care for theses labels.

And here's a brief look at the interior, thanks to local community news footage:

Looks pretty cool. Always worry about places that are going to have that many beers on tap right off the bat. Maybe they do have the recipes down and ready to go, but rather they focus on a few really good beers and then expand later. Also, this place seems huge. That's a big pill to swallow right off the bat. Hope the best.

I am surprised that U4IC would come out of the chute with bottle/off-sale effort. It is a difficult effort to get correct, on top of the other critical parts that a new brewery must master, especially these days. (the labels sure remind me of the 80's labeling designs, and there is no consistent branding at all). I recently was in Mankato and took the opportunity to figure out where the tap room is (Blakely) on my way back home in the TC. It was really out of the way and not next to anything, basically. I wonder what kind of volume they realistically could do in such an out of the way locale? I would think having a busy tap room would be a crucial piece to generate cash flow to grow the business, and this location is really, really out of the way. I wish them the best and may stop by some time, but I am not sure I want to drive through miles of winding roads 30 miles south of Chaska to do so. For those who are not familiar with the location, you would need to drive south of Belle Plaine a few miles, take a right off of 169 before the Henderson exit, then head west a number of miles until you hit Blakely, which isn't so much a town as a few buildings along the MN River. I think one of the roads into the area is shut down too. Perhaps this isn't a business as much as a side project? That would make more sense I guess.

300 Barrels out the gate is my guess, and then ratcheting it straight-up to about 3,000 by the end of the year if they manage to get a bunch of infected* bottles and kegs out to local (and "local") tap placements.

*But we'll support them anyway, right? Because CRAFT BEER~!

With a 6bbl system, 3000 bbls may be tough in the first year. I've enjoyed Jeff and Dave's brews over the years so I know they can make good beer. Dave had one of the better home brew systems in the club.

I think getting to Blakely and keeping the tap room full might be hard. I need to swing by and check it out.

While they aren't yet open to the public, I'd be surprised if they wouldn't be open Sunday seeing as their plan has been in the works since before Sunday growler sales were permitted by law ("Est. 2012", reads the inscription on their crest).

Ok. Thanks for the info. I'm headed to New Ulm on the 17th, and would have stopped in if they were open on my way home.

I agree with others about the labels being poor. Need some uniform branding at the very least. Good they appear to be 12oz bottles and not horrible bombers. I think the bottles coming right away is because they cannot rely on taproom income. They are brewing so the taproom should finally be open in a week or two. I will be checking out the taproom.

I wonder what happened to the neck labels from an earlier picture:

And if you're looking for a job in Blaine: http://discussions.probrewer.com/sh...-Brewery-in-Blaine-MN-(Opening-November-2016)

After reading about this and watching the Wicked Wort walk-through I wonder where all this $$$ is coming from? What new breed of investors that do not care about ROI?

Quick update on Black Stack Brewing Company over in Hamline Midway , St. Paul .
I toured the place back in August when it was been build and saw the plans but they've been keeping things
quite and doing no publicity. .

I drove by last week and saw the bar area is finally been fitted out and side entrance completed . Its going to be a big "Able" size taproom for St. Paul , hopefully with beers that go beyond 3.8% . Sorry Able but that was no nitro stout !

This is a mere few minutes from where Lake Monster just opened . In a 2-mile radius we will have 6 breweries operating . Blackstack will be bigger than all these St.Paul breweries . Its near the Fairview green line stop and pretty close to the new MN Soccer Stadium.

Two tiny bits of info to share:
    1. They are working with Twelve Plus Media to document the entire build out and it will be featured in a documentry on Thirst TV .

    A couple links of interest:

    2. They finally applied for all their needed permits for on site, growler, and Sunday Sales so are just waiting for approval on that from the city .

If I was to guess this will open in Mid-late March but I've been totally wrong before and this project is a bit more ambitious than your typical start-up . Chaz may have more info to share .

That's extremely unlikely at this point. But thank you for keeping us all up to date!

I think they ran into major delays with their brewing equipment. As far as I know, they took possession of it less than a month ago. I think I saw something a week or 2 ago saying that it's assembled. I'm not sure if they have supplies and are brewing yet.

They had fermenters and chillers back in August... not assembled but in house still in plastic wrap. Maybe brew house didn't come in...they are also canning so maybe they were waiting for that... Either way it's been a long wait ...one I hope is worth it.

Hello from Modist Brewing!!! Ive been sneaky and reading all the great conversations here and wanted to give you an update (straight from the horses a**). We are working on getting the place ready for all of you and found out last week that the brewhouse will be at the building mid next week. Fermentation vessels are here and the floor is being sealed next week. Meanwhile working going well in the taproom (framing and sheet rock in progress) Thank you for being excited and let me know if you have any questions.

I'd like to say that with all of the garbage kickstarters put out by local beer institutions you folks took the high road by actually having worth while returns, and that has scored you a lot of points in my book.
