I'm not sure if the rates have always been at this price but Aloft in Durham has rooms starting at $98 right now for Sat.
Yeah, you can't beat that deal. $98 for a room at the Aloft which is a 9 iron away from the fest is insane!!
Holy Shnike @abb610 that's like a 1/2 mile 9 iron shot!! I believe this year's event is being held at the Historic Durham Athletic Park which right down the street from the Aloft. On a side note, Jeff Foxworthy is playing the DPAC that Saturday night.
Oh shit, my bad, i was told it was basically next door. 1/2 mile??? Hand me my 7 iron. I now see its the new stadium that is across the street. Either way a $98 room at the Aloft a short walk away is a sick deal. Are you going to Rare? I hope to see ya there!!
@abb610 yep I'll be there. I have friends & family going as well & they will also be staying at Aloft. Is this your first NC Rare/Raleigh Rare? This will be my 3rd year. Should be fun. Hope to see ya there!
That's a good deal for any decent hotel, much less an Aloft. I'm not going this year but hell that would probably be similar to getting an Uber back to Raleigh lol.
Are they including beer? Right now they have about 20 beers listed for rare and vintage with a couple weeks to go. No updates on Twitter or fb for weeks.
Looks like they posted a list yesterday which is nearly final http://www.ncrarebeer.com/assets/files/beer-list.pdf And according to FB: Trophy Brewing will be bringing Horchata Stout and Bourbon Barrel Aged Ginger Tripel @HopBeard are y'all gonna be pouring at the festival? Cheers!
Looks like a few goodies that will probably be gone during VIP, but perhaps not as many breweries as last year?
Seriously disappointing lineup. Some local FB pages have said that it might be time to introduce a new extreme beer festival to the Triangle (Raleigh/Durham). Perhaps something similar to a Brewvival or Funk Asheville would be nice.
There are a couple on there that are disappointing (I'm looking at you Wicked Weed and Boulevard, even Haw River for bringing Rusted Plow and Lagunitas for bringing Bitter Oats), but doesn't look 'seriously disappointing'. I've never been to this festival (and not going this year either), but have been to a number of other Pints for Prostates festivals and this looks like a pretty decent list. Is it normally much better?
I think sometimes these beer lists get absurdly long, and half the stuff you try you're too drunk to appreciate anyways. List looks rock solid, event is never oversold...will be a welcome departure from the brodog fests. Can't wait.
Depends how you call it over sold. I bet the better beers like Velvet will be long gone by the time those with regular tickets get into the event. Like last year and Better Half as a good example.
Yeah, perhaps, but it's good to avoid FOMO syndrome in these cases. If some VIP ticket older wants to stand there and drink that for an hour, awesome. There's so much good stuff; my liver will fail before the kegs do.
Trust me when I tell you not to miss the Alpine HFS, first keg to ever leave So Cal...plus, you'll need a break from all the sours and bbl stouts/bwines.
