I love everytime bud does this....

    The classic banter

"So they gave them bud light?"

    "Nice marketing scheme!"

    "I hate Budweiser"

    "I think its admirable"

    "Nice tax break"

Got them all covered? OK, on to the next thread.

You can say this is a publicity stunt all you want, but do they come out and announce it every time they do it? No, they do not. As mentioned, this has been common practice for nearly 20 years, even aiding issues that are not commonly reported on in mass media. More often, we hear about this from third party sources, and not because AB is having press conferences to announce their contribution.

Do they report when they send these donations out? Of course they do. In fact, they are required to by their shareholders. Their charitable contributions match and exceed that of most similarly sized companies. They also are one of the few multi-national corporations to come out in their support of the LGBT movement, something that the majority of craft brewers want nothing to do with.

I understand the dislike of AB for various reasons when comparing to craft beer, but the hatred and lies about how evil this corporation is are often hugely unfounded.

This is a thread that should probably be killed. It will grow to 3 pages of InBev bashing. @vileplume thanks for posting this, I posted that they had done this for Texas and OK (50K cans) and posted a link to their site where it details how often they have done this. I am sure if more cans are needed they will send them, they did 9.5 million cans during Katrina and Rita back in 2005. I am not a fan of their tactics in the beer world, but I appreciate them putting fresh water in people's hands who need it. So that said, Thanks InBev.

So >50% of craft brewers want nothing to do with the LGBT community? I missed whatever research had that little gem of a statistic in it. Please share your source.

The craft beer industry is much like the American government, in that it is comprised almost exclusively of white males in the middle to upper class. I am citing my personal experience here in knowing of multiple gay pride events that AB has sponsored and supported. If craft breweries are also on board with this, I have not heard about any. I am not saying it doesn't exist; simply that I appreciate how open AB as a corporation is to such things. More commonly these huge corporations are looking to express and enforce the close-minded opinions of their owners/board members.

So you have AB-Inbev sending 51,000 cans.
    Cher sent 150,000 bottles.
    Meek Mill sends 60,000 bottles.
Pearl Jam has raised $350,000 to help with this water crisis.
Jack White roughly $7,500 to assistance to this crisis.

Yes all are celebrities in their own right and have a steady cash flow all their own, but in the end they are private citizens.

You'd think a company like AB-Inbev (125 million bbls/year) might take a production day out of their 12( earliest number of Budweiser breweries i could find from 2012) to each boil a Brew Kettle full of water run it through the plate chillers and can it and come up with more than 51,000 cans considering that the population of Flint.MI is roughly 103,000 people. then it might be something to be applauded for.
Hell Oskar Blues a much much smaller (150,000 bbls/year) sent 50,000 cans and im sure other local breweries that have the means are jumping on board too.

In 1993, before there was a craft beer revolution, they sent truck loads of water to Des Moines after the floods overtook the water processing plant. I was not a fan of the beer, but I was damn happy to get the water. I will forever be grateful for that.

    Brita actually did donate.

"All Brita faucet mount filters, including the 20,000 faucet mount filters distributed this week by state and local organizations in Flint, MI"

They just don't announce it too everyone for PR reasons :grinning: and they did this all the way back in October.

Saying that you haven't heard of craft breweries being on board with something and saying that the majority of them want nothing to do with it are two very different statements.

When did Beer Advocate turn into a site with so many corporate defenders? It would be nice if they realized that they are as equally annoying as those who are against BMC. Please drop the weird, reverse-holier-than-thou shtick.

Note: this was not directed at the OP specifically

Good for them. I'm still not going to buy beer from them or any of the breweries they own.

I like how everyone on here tries to one-up each another. You're all a bunch of self absorbed losers. InBev has done more than any combination of you rambly bambly two cent hypocrites will ever do in your lifetime. Until you start donating your time and resources shut up and quit hating. Good work AB, the world is a better place because of you.

Let the person who donates to charity and doesn't take it as a tax deduction be the one to stand and charge that ABI looks for financial advantage for its charitable work.

The rest of you who either don't donate to charity, or take the deduction when you do? Please sit down.
