Bruery 2016 RS/HS Allocations

I have a thing for Or Xata, but I live in Oregon now so I won't be picking up by beer until August. Has anyone had 2015 Or Xata recently and can tell me how it's held up in a bottle?

 

Ya we have pretty open laws here in Michgian. I was at a brewery and some guy asked if they filled outside growlers and the response was "We'd put it in a boot as long as you paid for it".

 

how do the or xata lovers out there like it compared with its imperial counterpart? i personally pass on or xata when i see it, but buy up all the imperial i can.

 

I unintentionally aged a 2015 Imperial Or Xata and opened it about 3 weeks ago. Infected disgusting mess. Just fyi in case you have any laying around.

Mine was not refrigerated at all for the whole time I had it. I didn't realize I even had it until I recently moved out and randomly found it. So maybe if you kept your cold it'll be ok?

I really like Or Xata but despise Imperial Or Xata

 

Anyone know (possibly @mattolesh ) if the growler will have the Surgeon General's warning on it? KS requires it, and this way I can continue to get use out of it.

 

Just take a label maker and put it on there yourself.

 

Really? I opened one in November which had also not been refrigerated and it tasted fine.

I do prefer regular Or Xata though.

 

I opened a regular Or Xata about a month ago and it was still great. Still have 1 left. I opened my last Imperial Or Xata this past weekend and it was rough. It still had decent flavor but an odd, soapy thing going on in the nose. I also personally greatly prefer the regular version, but the last two imperials I opened were tough to finish - I drank the one this weekend over 3 days.

Or Xata was distributed to Chicago and Indy last year, fortunately. I was sad when I ran out of the bottles I got through RS before we moved away last year but thrilled to find more in the spring on shelves. Keep that in mind if you think it's an option. I'm going to hope to find it on shelves rather than wait and deal with the painful price of shipping, etc.

 

Agreed. However, I'm fairly certain no one drain poured their bottle within those 9 minutes and 1 post.

Yeah, it reminded me of the infected Mash and Grind bottles from the previous year.

 

Unfortunately, I live in a pretty rural town with limited beer distro, and by limited I mean LIMITED. So I have to drive over an hour to find a decent beer store. But I will definitely keep that in mind, as I can only fit 9 cases of beer in my trunk (found that out in December).

I drank an Imperial Or Xata and a regular 2015 Or Xata the day after Christmas with my buddies. They all loved it. It's one of my favorite "normal" abv bruery beers behind Lokal.

Does it NEED to be part of the growler? I know Founders has the warning stickers they just slap on any that don't have it. I can see about getting a couple.

 

I love regular Or Xata, I buy a case whenever given a chance. Was so happy last year that it hit national distribution, bought as much as I could get my hands on.

 

My bottle last month was fine. No off flavors, no smell, tasted maybe a bit muted from fresh but still very good. Not refrigerated or 'cellared', just kept on a shelf in my office with all my other bottles (house temp is 64).
