Wow, zombie thread from 3-1/2 years ago. I wonder if the suggestions stay the same, or, are there new shiny objects to adore?

Yeah, I googled portland ipa and this was the first to come up, I figured it would be interesting to see if those listed were still considered as good or if something else took its place.

Isn't he looking for bottles? I guess a crowler would do!

Welp, I didn't realize this was a 3 1/2 year old thread and didn't read that guys thing so... Growler/Crowler somewhere maybe? Whoops.

Technically, the OP was looking for IPAs to put on tap at a bar. Wait, we got away from the basic point? How'd that happen?

I was actually talking about the person who bumped the thread, not the OP.

If you want bottles, go with Breakside IPA. It's reliable and fantastic.

If crowlers are an option, proceed immediately to Growler Guys on SE 8th, and load up on Barley Brown's Pallet Jack IPA and Boneyard Hop Venom. And Breakside IPA, for that matter.

    Thanks, Eric.

Also...Sunriver's Vicious Mosquito needs to be in the discussion. Way under the radar, but an extremely well-crafted IPA.

Can't believe breakside hasn't been mentioned. You might not like their pub, but fatheads also has some amazing ipas. Best IPA in Oregon for my money is pallet jack.

While we're on the Boneyard bandwagon (nothing wrong with that), what about Notorious IIIPA? I'm relatively new to the area, but is that one brewery only? It's outstanding BTW.

Maybe I'm missing an inside joke? It's mentioned 2 or 3 times.

Notorious is not brewery only, but you're right, it is outstanding.

Also, <curmudgeon> OP asked about Portland IPAs, and most of the IPAs mentioned in this thread are not from Portland. #facts </curmudgeon>

Nah, the OP was pretty open to the best Oregon IPA's. He mentioned Double Mountain, which is not (yet) a Portland beer.

That's why I mentioned Breakside IPA first. It's my go-to, it's delicious, and it happens to be made in Portland.

Also <pedantic> the thread title is "Best Portland IPA," but the OP goes on to say "Or best Oregon IPA," at which point Barley Brown's and Boneyard enter the conversation. Arguably Fort George deserves a shout too, but that might lead to 3-Way cans going across the state line, and I'm greedy. #NotSorry.</pedantic>

Fort George Fresh IPA was a real treat this year. I liked it better than Sticky Hands.

Agree completely. It was in my top 5 favorite fresh hop beers from last year.

Probably a few additional suspects I guess. The DIPA and TIPA from pfriem are both excellent, and I have to confess Breakside has completely won me over with their Wanderlust IPA. I don't know if they tweaked the recipe or what (I thought it was decent, but never really paid it much mind... until about a year ago), but damn, fresh versions of wanderlust are hard to beat (and with a reasonable abv. level as well). Also, the last couple of batches of Sticky Hands have been particularly outstanding as well. I know the beer is popular anyway, with a huge following, but once again, I feel as if Block 15 has really upped their game of late with recent batches of SH.
