Pretty sure 2009 me drank nothing but Biere De Mars, Ommegeddon, Wild Devil, and Orval for a three month period.

The Aphrodite was pretty tasty too. I think I still have a bottle or two of that kickin around.

I still have the 4xDOBIS growler but it keeps looking at me and wants me to drink it. I also have a 32oz of Jai Alai from a couple weeks back when House of 1000 had it on tap.

I won't be able to make it happen...thanks for trying though, Ben...

    Excellent multi-quoting, by the way...

New stuff on today at Brew Gents:

Momo, our Mosaic Pale Ale (de facto spiritual cousin to Certified Public Accountant), is back on tap to much fanfare. On a related note, Momo and CPA both have a bit of new look on our menu board. To highlight the simplicity of these single-hop pales, we decided to go with some ultra-minimalist, periodic table-esque imagery.

New from the pilot system is Prototype 12: Triple IPA. Assistant brewer and taproom stud Rob Dillman has taken the reigns of our Prototype Series, and decided to carpet-bomb us with Citra hops in the form of some 10.6% ABV sticky-icky. Tangerine and strawberry in the aroma, with big flavors of fresh mango, grapefruit, pine, and orange blossom honey. If General Braddock rides into battle on a horse, this is basically CPA riding into battle atop a candy-orange Chevy Suburban blasting The Chronic.

Also gracing us with its presence is Permanent Yard Sale, a nice and simple, lightly hopped, malt-forward session ale featuring a hefty portion of silky-smooth Vienna malt from our friends at Deer Creek Malthouse. Biscuity goodness, fam.

I'm sure these beers are all the same, just like the rest.

Well...I will say that they do all seem to be pretty similar to each other. They even say so in the descriptions.

I'm sure these beers above are awesome. But would love to see a (new) big ass stout or barleywine from these guys...

Is the beer name Trade Bait taken? Might be a good follow up to Turbid Nightmare.

Hey guys, thought I'd go ahead and introduce myself. I moved up here last July from NC and have been following this thread for awhile. You guys have helped me get a solid grasp on the beer scene here so I thought I'd make my first post and attempt to contribute going forward.

    Cheers,
    Scott

Oh for real? This thread actually helps? Happy to hear that...I sorta thought we'd reached an all time low of rambling nonsense...:stuck_out_tongue:

    Welcome to the thread Scott!

Stopped at Atlas during lunch.. hadn't been there before (unless I'm going to Franks for a sausage, I avoid that whole area for traffic and parking)

    Nice place and really helpful.

Actually had a Ballantine Ale sitting on the shelf, and bought my first Nugget Nectar to try.. for all the hubbub, I hope it's not too high IBU for me.

So, to get pedantic again, is 10.6% really a triple IPA? I think of those starting around 12%.

    Who knows anymore

I guess to compare...Hopslam is 10%...is that a TRIPA? If not, then does .6% get you into the next style tier?

    Maybe a 2.5x IPA?

    Thanks!

Actually M&P was my first suggestion, based entirely on her favorite kinds of foods, and also good reputation.

However, I think she settled on Urban Tap, which I'm totally fine with also. Smaller menu, but looks pretty good.

Thought (very loosely) that 8ish ABV was IIPA and then 10ish IIIPA.

Edit: Personally think it's silly; mentally just kind of lump it as either IPA or Imperial IPA...I guess. Think someone(s) make a "quadruple IPA," which I believe was north of 12 (something like 13-15).

Lindemans Cuvee Renee is my "shelf treasure". I buy them all the time thinking i'll use them for something special. Then i drink them and eat Fox's Pizza.

Are you my cousin Anthony? I'm serious.

I don't think i ever tried the Aphrodite, i saw it at Pitts Doggin It once but i had my hands full of scotch taped bud light 12packs and couldn't grab one. Maybe next time....

If we quit trying now we'll never now what we could have accomplished.

Triple IPA's aren't mentioned in the updated BJCP guidelines but I think most people agree a triple IPA is something around 10% and 3 figure IBUs. I think its kind of a gimmick, however, when we already have Imperial IPA as a category/descriptor.

Also, for the people that didn't see Atlas now has the same bottles Brew Gentlemen had for sale (Skeumorph, Ligne Claire, Mosaic/Homegrown Saison). I'm sure it's got a couple dollar upcharge, but pretty significantly more convenient for me living on the North Side.
