Besides Sue and bombers, I'm seeing those TG beers sit on shelves a long time in the Twin Cities too. I wonder if stores will eventually stop reordering those slow selling varieties or if stores are being required to buy them to get the other more popular TG beers.

Not sure if it is still the case, but I know when TG first dropped in the Twin Cities. A descent amount of Dorothy's was required to be ordered to order the other stuff.

I remember them saying one of their newer brewers (Chris Flenker) brewed a sour this last summer that was going to be going into barrels with peaches. I'm guessing that could be the sour he's referencing?

I don't think a keg of MD was there for the last King Sue release. I remember it was there for the very first release though.

Clark pulled out some bottles and poured a bunch of pours of a few ounces and let people come sample the newest MD. Was a nice little surprise.

At least a 1/6 bbl of Mornin' Delight and probably the King as well down at Huna Day - per twitter.

I saw August Golden Nugget in a Des Moines Hy Vee last week. Too bad, I'd love to pick some up but not with that date on it.

most beer on the shelf is old, the good stuff goes quick - especially with people like us around.

chalk another point up to Stone for their Enjoy By series. gimmick or not it's smart. they're probably a thought leader in this regard. craft beer supply chain can't easily be modeled after macro beers - where they can just crank up production and stock shelves. Boulevard, Firestone Walker, Stone's other beers, Green Flash, you name it, everyone's facing this issue.

Distributors and brewers will be forced to get smarter, because craft beer drinkers just aren't buying the way they used to.

I'm guessing they'll put some good stuff on at the tap room on Huna Day, like DONG King Sue, etc. That seems to be what they've done in the past. Two years back they tapped a keg of Mornin' Delight as well.

They brought the peach sour to the Great Taste (not the actual event, but at the bar the day earlier) and I think also the Taproom, all in firkin's. So anyone expecting to see that particular sour will be waiting until if/when it's brewed again.

    From TGs Facebook:

Bob Anderson, TG mug club member and proud supporter of Decorah as well as the founder of the Midwest Raptor Project passed away unexpectedly this past year. He had a passion for many birds of prey, including the peregrine falcon and bald eagle. Many people will recognize Bob’s work with the Decorah Eagles and the famous Eagle cam.

It is with great respect that Toppling Goliath is auctioning off Bob Anderson’s Mug Club membership to help benefit the Midwest Raptor Project. This membership will be a LIFETIME membership into the Topping Goliath Mug Club with all proceeds going to the Midwest Raptor Project. This will be a silent auction.

There are a few rules that we must address:
    1. Only serious bidders please; this is a wonderful opportunity to help the community.
    2. Starting bid is $300, which has already been graciously bid.
    3. You must bid at the taproom only.
    4. Bidding begins today and will end on March 10th, 2016.
    5. Reminder, this is for a LIFETIME membership into the Mug Club.
    6. ALL proceeds will be donated to the Midwest Raptor Project.
    7. Your likeness may be used on social media if you are the winning bidder.

    Good Luck and Cheers!

Hope they can raise some serious coin for the MW Raptor Project in Bob's name.

Sad to hear - the work he has done with the Midwest Raptor Project is something that has literally impacted people all around the world. Such a neat thing to check out. That's one thing I really love about Decorah. It's the people. I always have a great experience going to Decorah to visit TG and the many other hot-spots there. The locals are always friendly and fun to talk to.

Well I just laid down a grand, so at least that.

EDIT: I'm joking. I'm nowhere near the taproom. Hopefully it goes well above $1k for a good cause.

Well, I'm 26 now and figure I've got about 40 years left given my high alcohol consumption, obesity, and general poor health choices. Mug club is $50 per year if you ever get off the waiting list. Factor in inflation of mug club prices over my lifetime, continued TG hype and expansion, and a ROI of about 3% on my capitol, I'd say $2500.69.

Add in the fact that some people have been on a wait list for years and they announced they are capping the wait list indefinitely, I'm sure someone will pay way over that. I'd guess $3500 range.
