Do MGM prices vary by store or are they set by some corporate level.

They vary from store to store.

If it's not paying the bills then don't sell it. Transparency and a little honesty with limited releases can go along way in gaining customers. There is plenty of money to made off all of us beer lovers. I would guess only 25% of the thousands I spend is on limited releases.

Heritage has CW BBBW, limit two bottles.

SLP Lunds and Byerlys still had about 5-6 four packs of CW BBBW sitting out around 7pm. $12.99

This is exactly what happened. They figured they could just waltz into this market with no marketing or game plan.

That is really on the distributor though, Minnesota store quantity wise. I'm sure the distributor is pushing as much as they can to as many stores as they can. Eventually some stores will order less and some will order more. Or they will keep ordering the same in hopes they get rarer distros down the line?

It's not on the distributor at all. TG thought they could contract brew and expand, and the quality of their beer suffered. Their core lineup really pales in comparison to alot of the locally produced beer in MN. Sue and the Decorah bombers are the only beers that sell well.

I would totally buy Nugget and 1492, if I could find bottles that aren't six months old. Once the old bottles are gone, and shops order a third of the bottles they did, i'll snag the other bottles with relative consistency.

Agreed, I believe that the majority of TG's consumer base in MN are BA's. Therefore pseudoSue and some of the Decorah bombers sell well while the rest sits and collects dust. With the fantastic variety of reasonably priced (and superior tasting) options that we enjoy there is really no reason for me to ever buy Dorothy's, Rover Truck, Fl G-Nug, etc.

I would buy those too but pseudosue needs to be consistently in stock. Your flagship beer helps sell your other beers.

I believe (based on what I've read) that TG considers Dorothy to be their flagship.

Perhaps they are in a position where the "normal" craft beer consumer (clearly, this does not include us!) doesn't really know much, if anything about them, so their primary customers in the Twin Cities are the beer geeks. In that case, they over supplied the market with their mass-appeal beers.

Contrast that with New Glarus. Based on the black marketeering being done be a certain bar, NG's flagship (Spotted Cow) is well-known and highly desired by the "normal" craft consumer.

So, how does TG improve their marketing or brand awareness among the normal craft buying public?

That's an issue for sure, but it seems to me Sue has been more consistent the last month or so. Everytime I go to my stop there's at least a couple 4 packs of Sue. If anyone is searching for Sue, Heritage has a decent amount of PS in the fridge on the left, canned 1/29.
