There's a separate thread, but it's not going well, and can't recall if it's been asked on this thread: anyone here going to Winter Beerfest? Wife bought tickets for Christmas gift. List released recently and the beer I am most excited to try is:

hanging out with my dad for a bit and then probably leaving early to go drink beer somewhere else.

 

The idea of a beer fest sounds great on paper. But when you have to pay $40-$60 for beers that are all turding up shelves. I'd rather stay home and drink my beer, and not have to worry about driving. I feel like the two big beer fests, summer and winter are just a way for the big wholesalers to get rid of old inventory.
Last year there was a small beer fest at the monroeville convention center, last year. And I knew someone who works there. And they had a ton of leftover beer. So I got 3 bottles of abyss and some lindemanns framboise for free.

 

I'll be going on Saturday. Bought the connoisseur ticket for the exact reason dannyfayy stated. Happy to see BCBS, KBS, and Grrrz.

 

going friday night. didn't know which to pick, so I got the connoisseur. I could drink kbs for that hour and then drink BCBS in between trying anything else.

for me, there is a chance to try a LOT of beer without the commitment of having to buy a 4 or 6 or more of it.

There is another thread discussing being able to "evaluate" a beer in a short sample, and being able to do a full 5 star review of it.

For the fests I've been to, the scale is more like:

1 - Great, I need to find some and really try it
2 - eh. I can say I tried it
3 - bleh. pass.

 

Friday here too. Connoisseur, so guess that means early? The list confuses me, and not just the misspellings. My ticket reads 6:30.

Edit: wouldn't have bought the tix, but want wife to know I appreciate the effort. Good intentions. Hanging with my dad on a Friday is a pretty good day in my book. Realize there are much better ways to spend the $$$.

 

Anyone confirm JuJu four packs still available this morning (or last night I guess)?

 

FWIW, my bottle of BCBS from Shadyside wasn't "infected" afterall. Cracked it lassnight.

 

Just called and they said it is still available to purchase.

 

Just left. Cooler still full not should how many cases left after that.

 

Just left myself and there were like 50 cases left. Not sure if that's after today's reinforcements or not, but rest assured there is some left. Thanks.

 

Thinking about heading down to the South Side to try to get some Jooj. Sounds like there's still a fair amount left?
Anyone know of any good Pho on the SS?

 

Was there an hr ago, there is plenty. SS asian scene is weak (fuck Nakama) unless you're drunk enough for Cambo-ican.

 

I left around 12:15, guy upstairs said they only went through about 50 cases so far.

although ive been hammered 90% of the time ive eaten cambodican, i can say ive never been disappointed. possibly best general tso ive had, plus seafood wonton and curry rolls are amazing. dont just think of this place as late night drunken food.
