I didn't avoid them purposely, but I don't think I had a single Canadian beer last year. I tend to drink American and Belgian beers, for the most part.

I might have had an Unibroue beer, but I can't recall off the top of my head...

According to the top rated beers from Canada on BA, it was Howe Sound's Megadestroyer Imp. Licorice Stout

No need to apologize. It was more of a joke. I saw some humor between the OPs question and the way you phrased your reply. I love Maudite. I had one last night. Cheers!

Auvul is making some absolutely delicious brews! I HIGHLY recommend anything they are making...wait, scratch that, go on about your business, let's not get the hype up on them!

Mine was far and away Dunham's Saison Du Pinacle Réserve. My God, I wish this brewery made its way south more often. They are amazing with each of the beers I have had (granted it has only been a handful). Just one of my favorites that I get whenever I see it.

Interesting how many of the beers mentioned above come from Quebec - Peche Martel, Auval Arcane17, Saison Du Pinacle, Brasseurs Illimites, etc., etc.

    I have to say
    Muskoka Summer Weiss
I really enjoyed it. All of their offerings are very solid. A very underrated brewery...in my opinion.

Not interesting at all... by far of all the CDN places I have been, Quebec and it's brewing tradition and history is just leaps and bounds amongst just about anywhere else in Canada in my opinion.

That's not to say you can't have just as good or better beer in Canada outside "La Belle Province"

Well I agree that there seems to be far more variety and interest in great beers in Quebec than elsewhere in Canada. I'm generalizing, of course, but I believe that part of that is the great social life and number of brewpubs that Quebecers have (especially in Montreal) than elsewhere. The streets are usually filled with people barhopping in Montreal, but you don't see anywhere near as many as in say, Toronto. There is a very (relatively) Conservative element in Ontario. My son lived in Montreal for several years and loved to hang out in the pubs there. Now he lives in Toronto and finds that the beer life is nowhere near to what it was there. He is getting married this summer, has an open bar, is inviting many of his friends from Montreal, but is totally embarrassed about the standard bland and dismal commercial choices available at the bar. Because of this, he has asked me to brew him some additional better choice beer to be served at his wedding (e.g. Rodenbach clone). I hope I can live up to his high standards!

In some ways, I feel that Montreal is Canada's "Austin, Texas" when it comes to the number of available brewpubs and liberal, animated social life. Toronto is relatively more like the City of the Walking Dead (actually "driving dead", since walking in Ontario is a real No-No). I can't speak for Vancouver as it's been a long time since I've been there. I'm sure it's much more alive than Toronto, though.

Though Peche Mortal is fantastic, Driftwood's Singularity blew my mind. Was also a big fan of Fat Tug, both with the bottle @Beervana sent me and on tap in Whistler. Great beers.
