Yeah. Poor wording on my part.

For the record am not blaming the stores but the system. Not sure how much of it is the distributor and how much was early over production by Surly but the net effect is the consumer is seeing a lot of less than fresh Abrasive hanging around. At the same time some very good beer stores are probably frustrated as well. Especially when people like me are constantly asking "do you have any fresher Abrasive in the back".

My thought immediately ran to this as well. I hope Todd we're not wading in 4 month old Todd when Labor Day rolls around. I also hope they are able to bring the price point down a bit on it, as that would likely help.

I'm sure it is tricky to anticipate demand, but the problem has to start with this, but it is more interactive than just "by Surly". The variety of beers and brewers available on our store shelves now all contributes to this. A person will only drink so much beer in a week, and if he is trying something new, he is not buying as much of the old favorites.

The November abrasive isn't bad. For 14-16$ a 4-pack, though, its awful.

Drop the price to 9.99 for a 4-pack and it would probably fly off the shelf. At this point, its probably about cutting losses on the inventory.

BlueMax did this very thing... they have four packs of abrasive from November @$9.99 a four pack. I thought that was a pretty good idea.

This is a very good idea. I've had year old Abrasive (in a fridge the whole time) and it was still above average for the style. So I'd be more than willing to purchase 3 month old Abrasive (must have been kept in the cooler) for $10-$12.

Princeton's got some 1/29 in on Friday along with 2/3 Light Speed.

Seems like sue and Light Speed were on the delivery with BADSDB last week, so places that got BADSDB would be a good place to start.

I got some 2/3 Light Speed at Falls Liquor on Thursday, so there is a good chance that they got some 1/29 sue as well.

Just a heads up this Lightspeed (Decorah) is far and away better than this Sue (Florida) IMHO.

I'd skip all the Sue cans and make a trip to the Nova and drink it on tap. I completely forgot how good the IA Sue is. Incredible beer.

Completely agree. The Sue from Florida is not even in the same ball park as the original Iowa beer. I recently bought a 1/29 canned version and was extremely disappointed.

The 1/29 Sue is just embarrassing IMO. I had 2 pours of iowa Sue at the Nova on Saturday night and it was outstanding!
