2/8/16 Pompeii is awesome. The fact that it's bottled Monday(?) in Decorah, and I am drinking it on Friday in Omaha, is pretty awesome. Besides Hopsmack that I had at 3 days old, this is the freshest TG beer I have had, great stuff!

I just want to say that Pompeii is fantastic and I can't believe it doesn't get more hype. That is all.

I feel like this batch of pompeii is good but not great. I'll drink a couple more to be sure of it :grinning:

Well hoppy is King and probably SOSUS to take to Huna Day. Mike has already said as much on twitter. Must be about time to brew the stouts and send them to barrels for Assassin and KBBS 2017 as well. I think I have read 12-16 months is the sweet spot for those.

Left over MD (from this brewing for KBBS) will prob go to huna day too?? Purely my guesses but the timelines seem pretty close.

Tonight I looked up Toppling Goliath on Barnivore and found listings for beers called A Really Fast Train, And Another Train, Airport Terminal, and Hyperspace Travel. They were all added about a month ago. Ring any bells with anyone? Maybe a few new beers they haven't announced yet, or an error or a joke...?

Someone viewed the source code to the website. It was a hidden, unused portion that listed fake categories and assumed those were beer titles I guess.

Of the beers that hit distro in MN and are brewed in FL, 'Sue gets all the talk. I realize that the others (Golden Nugget, Rover Truck, and Dorothy's) are not the stars of the show, but how do they compare to the IA originals? Does IA even brew those anymore? (I haven't tried any of the three I listed; I am thinking of giving Rover Truck a try.)

I enjoy Florida Rover Truck over Decorah's. I've seen a few old bombers in the corridor, so the opportunity to challenge exits.

Never had enough IA Dorothy's or Rover Truck to be able to comment.

I'd say of the three hoppy beers (sue, nugget, and 1492) FL nugget is probably closer to IA nugget than the other 2 are to sue and 1492

Florida Dorothy's, Rover Truck and Nugget are solid beers for what they are. I don't drink a ton of the Iowa versions, so my comparison wouldn't be great.

I don't think Rover Truck has been on tap in Decorah in quite awhile, but I could be wrong. Not sure if that's an indication of Decorah Rover Truck not being brewed at the moment, but an observation.

hey guys, so this year ive been planning on hitting some of the top breweries from around the country. i luckily am in the northeast and have access to some of the best ipas in the world, but im always looking for those great stouts! my question to you guys would be, when would be the best time to visit TG and hope to land one of their sought after stouts? any info is super appreciated. thank you!

I think the only way to know for sure is to stay tuned to this thread and TG's twitter account. They like to release the highly sought after stouts with very short notice. Probably not what you wanted to hear, but that is how TG operates. Possibly this fall is about as close as anyone knows at this point.

I'd also be willing to venture that if you showed up around Decorah at pretty much any time with lots of stuff from Alchemist, Tree House, and Trillium you would find locals willing to part with some rare stouts.

Kinda what I figured as well, was hoping they did some sort of lottery at least though so I could hop on a plane with some notice. Treehouse is doing basically the same thing now, except you dont know what their "special" weekly beer will be until youre at the brewery....or someone puts it on social media

Hahaha well I may have to do just that then! I am the local treehouse connect. Trillium isnt as easy for me to come by as its about another hour drive more then th is. and heady is overrated so i dont bother with it. Maybe ill just bring a suitcase of treehouse ipas and stouts and see what comes about.
