For Portland I would have to say Breakside wanderlust IPA . I just had Eazy Duz It last weekend. It was really good!

I picked up a 4-pack of Ex Novo Eliot IPA last weekend, and found it very good indeed.

Wanderlust does in fact print dates on the bottle-necks but is near impossible to see inside under the grocery store lights for example.... look outside a window up at the gray sky is quite easy to see though....

few empty's I just pulled out of my recycle bin.....

--I never would have bought being so old but like I said pretty much impossible to see under the grocery store lights!

Block 15 Intergalactic is definitely my favorite IPA to come out of Oregon, as far as regulars Fort George and Laurelwood are really good. I haven't had Ex Novo Eliot IPA so i'm interested in trying it next time i'm down if its around.

Man, the majority mentioned here are not anywhere near my radar. I do go out of my way to get stickey hands... But outside portland being exempt... I actually might be leaning toward something great notion. I don't think portland puts out a great ipa. Bend, corvallis, Baker city, astoria, etc. Yes. Portland... Not so much, yet.
    Call me what you will.

"Milwaukie" distinction aside, do you not think Breakside's hoppy offerings (or your favorite Portland brewery's) belong in the same discussion as the best from Bend, Corvallis, etc.?

    No.
    Thanks for asking.
It's always a big deal when someone like Melvin comes in... Or lagunitas born yesterday. Etc. You can name your favorite...
3 way has the hype again... Portland ipa... Imo...never had that hype.

Shrug. To each their own. Personally, I'm starting to think that the IPA category is getting almost as broad and nebulous as the Saison category, so there's plenty of room for IPA fans to disagree with each other.

Breakside IPA, Wanderlust....IBUsive....come on, these are world class IPA's.

I thought the last batch of Semper FIPA from Fat Head's was also really good.

But crusian seems to like Melvin IPAs and Born Yesterday, and I'm not so much a fan of those. Nothing wrong with that. If there's no overlap in our IPA Venn diagram, we just won't recommend any to each other.

Agreed. The tweaks to Semper Fi have turned it into an upper echelon IPA as well.

Love RPM and recently did a blind taste comparison between pallet jack and rpm. Pallet jack blew it out of the water. I've always been surprised by the lack of barley browns hype

While I prefer RPM to Pallet Jack, Barley Brown's is definitely putting out some great beer. Head Shake is seriously killer.

I don't hype Pallet Jack, but I do drink the hell out of it. Definitely one of my favorite IPAs.

Wanderlust is the answer for me but Ripe from Great Notion is climbing fast with Tall Guy IPA from breakside getting honorable mention. Juice Jr from Notion is without a doubt the best Session IPA I have ever had.

    No trolling here Brother!

I encourage you (anyone) to buy a bottle and hold the empty up to a window with the natural light in the backdrop..... look at the neck.

    Post back what you find!

I think laurelwood's IPA offerings are pretty damn good. Breakside too (regular or wanderlust)

Gigantic makes some tasty IPAs as well.

    just my opinion
