I thought it was the best it's ever been bottled, and the closest it's been in terms of juiciness and ideal flavor/aroma to the first batch, which came out two years ago now!

Agree and great batch of King Sue. Curious to what people think about Sue (Decorah Sue/growler) vs. King Sue? I get it that it's 2 different types of beers but Sue one was probably about the best beer of the share that included some top 50 BA beers. Curious to some other opinions on this.

Had a glass of Sue when I picked up my King Sue yesterday and it was fantastic, but by god, my bomber of King Sue was quite possibly the best thing I've ever had in my life. Even better than I remember from the tapped King Sue I had at TG 9/3. Truly glad I bought the whole case.

Was there a winner of the challenge (besides whoever was consuming)?

Sue, of course :stuck_out_tongue: Todd's great as always but a different, bigger beer. I prefer's Decorah Sue's profile, and while I love Passe, this latest batch is not as juicy as it's been in the past. The first time it was brewed is still my favorite.

Can't speak to the most recent batch, but someone gave me a bottle of the last batch in December and I could smell that thing across the room. Maybe the most potent DIPA I've ever smelled. Something's gotta be off with yours.

This most recent batch is very juicy dankness. Opened it on the kitchen counter, roommate smelled it in the living room.

So finally made it out to Nova to try some Decorah Sue on tap. It certainly is the better beer. Not sure I'll be writing off Sue in cans anytime soon though.. Not any substitutes that I can find even if it doesn't equal the real thing.

Question though, any reason why bars in the cities haven't picked up any kegs of Sue to tap? Licensing/distribution issues? Seems weird that bars in IA and WI have it on tap but we do not.

For the most part they have stuck with sending kegs to original accounts which were just in Iowa and Wisconsin, I would expect this to continue with the exception of a few festivals and special events until their new brewery comes online.

^ Curious business choice if true. Especially while expanding the brand. Which they certainly seem to be trying to do by distributing to our area.

Edit: I see now you mention until the new brewery comes online. This likely being due to current capacity reasons seems legit. Hopefully once the bigger brewery is up the quality continues and we see the real Sue all over the cities.

For quite a while draft was nonexistent in IA and WI too

Had both the newest batches of King Sue and pseudoSue (growler) yesterday and they were both maybe the best batches I've had of either. This batch of King Sue was especially better than the one in December for me. December was sweeter and this batch was drier and a touch more bitter, with massive tropical juice. I wonder if it has to do with Citra crops?

My educated guess would be SR-71 also. I believe the stout went in barrel's around July/August (sometime before Great Taste) so SR-71 is hopefully the only one that would take until 2017
