In their latest blog/Facebook post the folks at Cigar City Brewing eluded to the potential roll out of a Reserve Society. Just wondering what everyone thinks about it and if this is a trend you would like to see other breweries follow.

I don't like the trend, it just means more good beer staying in fewer hands.

Sorry, but a link to what is indicated as a 'possibility' and the message using scrambled letters is not what I call a firm committment to have a Reserve Society.

As much as I'd love to be in a club that get's special beer I can't justify spending the cash on a membership.
I'd love to get a Funky Buddha membership but I've come to terms with the fact that I'll never get to try every rare or special beer.
I'd rather have CCB not make special beers only for members, but if they do I won't lose sleep over it.

I like the idea but only because I live in Tampa. Its a way to reward the locals in my opinion. Hopefully it doesnt turn into a big eBay/trader thing, but then again Joey doesnt care what you do once you buy the beer anyway. Hopefully CCB will have enough capacity to brew awesome BA beer for non-members as well. It would really suck if all the good BA stuff went to the reserve society.

Sorry if the title of the post is a bit misleading as there are no definite plans. However, since CCB has hinted at the possibility, I am still curious as to what people think about the potential of CCB moving ahead this way and the idea of other breweries implementing Reserve Societies like systems in the future

You are correct that in the body of the post he used 'eluded'. I was referring to the title.

I'd drop Bruery RS in a minute for CCB RS

I would definitely think about joining a CCB Reserve Society club.

If they allow members a 2-week window to pick up their allotments of barrel aged Hunahpu and Zhukov's, I might sign up. Who doesn't love a 9 hr drive roundtrip to pick up some beer?

Only 9 hours? That's a picnic compared to the distance I have driven to go to Cigar City releases and parties.

I'd drop my Bruery RS membership in a heartbeat and replace it with a CCB one, assuming they let trustees pick beers up for me.

As long as it's not priced as highly as the Bruery's, I'm in. I will gladly drive to Tampa a few times a year to pick up my allotments instead of this "random releases today in the taproom" thing where I can't make it. Bring it on, and let me get on of them.
