It's interesting how different breweries have different strategies and desires. It seems a lot of the NE breweries, and some local MSP breweries I can think of, want to stay small, small batch, and nothing to do with expansion. Maybe these breweries want to stay hyped and not worry about "product dilution"

I was at a smaller local shop yesterday and they had 4 packs of Sue dated 12/28. Would they even be worth picking up at this point? I'm not a huge "always drink fresh" guy but it seems from reading some of the posts in this thread it may matter with this beer.

I'd say that it's still good. Just under 2 months old is not too bad

I just had a can of 12/28 Sue the other day and I thought it was still delicious.

I don't think that's the case, from the ones I've talked to that want to stay small it's because they don't want to deal with the headaches that come with expanding.

It makes sense to me, from the brewers standpoint for instance, you start off brewing a couple of barrels at a time, maybe a couple batches a week. Compare that to what Surly does now, there's no standing above the mash tun giving it a good stir or managing temps. Everything is computer controlled and monitored. It seems like at that level you're not so much brewing beer, more working as a factory supervisor making sure all of the equipment does its job.

Sioux City Hy-Vee on Hamilton had cans dated 2/10...others had cans dating back to Dec/Nov. Makes me sad...

But, I guess "large" is relative...

Well if that's the case, you did the math wrong. It's ~$16 for a "4 pack" at $3.99 each. I don't call picking up 4 bombers a 4-pack, which was my main point. Wanted to be sure you were aware ZeeLander only comes in 22oz bottles.

I hate to butt in but.... I believe you missed his point again. Maybe the third time will be a charm?

It was just a throwaway comment, not worth this response, but here it is anyway...

    $3.99 for 22 oz = $0.18136/oz = $2.90182 per pint = $11.60727 per 4 pack

    (I think...)

Hopefully you haven't read too many pages of this thread. It's a great beer. Even a "bad" one is good, just not great.

Oh, you were breaking it down to ounces. Yeah, I had no clue that's what you were trying to get at.

Drinking a 2-week-old can of PseudoSue now, and have no complaints whatsoever. Fresh, delicious, with a great combination of fruity citrus and a bitter bite. Yeah, I was reading the copy on the can, but it's true.

I was in Minneapolis this weekend looking for some beer and was completely shocked the amount of TG they had. They had bombers like Pompeii that are hard to get even in Des Moines and of course a ton of Sue, Dorthy's, etc. The place was Lake Wine and Spirits.

I was also in Mpls this weekend and found plenty of the new Light Speed and fairly new Pseudo at Haskell's in Highland Park in St. Paul... It seems to last a lot longer in certain spots.
