Tapped around ~3ish at Teresa's today. Gone in about an hour and 20 minutes.

First time I've had it - I don't get the hype. It's good, but not life changing by any means. I'd be severely let down if I waited in line or put any kind of time into attempting to hunt it down.

I would agree with this. Have been there for PtY multiple times as well as other events. They are always well staffed, well managed, and the service is very fast given the crowds. Didn't have a problem getting it at Iron Abbey last year either. My buddy and I got there a couple hours early and ate breakfast. Once it was time to get tickets, we put our forks down and got in line.

the hype was from many years before ipa's are what they are today.... this was quite something a skewed far from the norm... the beer scene hasn't moved with a standard% growth each year, it's quite exponential and to imagine that in 2012 people killed to tick this and now a vast majority wouldn't bother to wait in line or go to the bar if they were 10 mins away is truly a sign of how far how fast things have moved...

For people who have done Monk's before - anything I should know that isn't obvious? Also, do people ever bring bottles for events like these, to share either inside or in line?

Tough to say. Lately events at capones haven't been as packed as they once were (ie. they had a BCBS Rare event and you could've gotten a pour arriving an hour after tap time and the last time they tapped CBS, it lasted the entire day, which is pretty much unheard of).

That being said, if you really want to assure yourself of a pour, I'd say you should probably be there 45 mins to a hour early.

Based on your location I'm assuming that you're driving from jersey for this, and if that's the case, it would really suck to miss out younger, so i'd probably bite the bullet and get there a full hour before doors open.

PJ's Pour House in north wales last night put on a very well run event. Tickets at 6:30, tapping at 9.

Was in and out with my ticket inside of 5 mins. And when i returned at 9, they (shockingly) still had some pours left to sell. I'd highly recommend them for future beer events. Most low-key pliny tapping i've been to yet.
