What time will people likely be lining up for PtY at Monk's?

And didn't he tighten up the distribution in PA in the last couple years? You used to be able to get it as far west as where I am (York County), but I heard that RR since put a strict much smaller distribution radius limited to just Philly.

    No outside bottles at Monk's.

I don't really get to PA much so you would know better than I would. Outside of Philly, I have bought RR bottles in Bethlehem at Abes in the past and drank PTE & PTY in Lansdale PA, but not sure how far RR distribution reaches in the state at this point.

Well RR beer is definitely available at the edge of the Philly suburbs in Montgomery and Bucks county. So it's not just the city proper.

It's out here in Chester County as well. Specifically Pour House Exton as of yesterday. Side Bar in West Chester in 2 weeks. Drafting Room in Exton and Station Taproom in Downingtown had it last year and should have it a soon.

I am always confused when people assume it'd be cool to bring bottles to a bar, when their whole business model is based on paying their staff, rent, utilities, insurance, etc. by selling you beer. You wouldn't bring a brown bag lunch into a restaurant, so why would you bring beer to a bar?

Note that it's not technically prohibited by PLCB rules, policies on BYOB are set by individual establishments or local ordnances: http://www.lcb.state.pa.us/cons/groups/system_internet/documents/webasset/000835.pdf

Yeah I didn't really mean only Philly but just Philly and the surrounding area. My point was that it used to be available as far as York, PA.

At this and other events, is it typically one pour then you're done or are there enough to get multiple? Trying to decide if it's worth the drive down. Thx in advance.

I scored a pour the other day! Great beer. The event is alot of fun if you choose a bar with a great supporting list. I was able to have a beer by Hill Farmstead, Knee Deep, Pizza Boy, Bell's, and a few others. That's a win in my book!

Bump. I'm trying to choose between Ucity and Blue Dog and the pour size/supporting draft list will be a major deciding factor.

City Tap House was $10 for an 8 or 10oz pour, I cannot remember the size. They hand out tickets to the first 65 people.

Blue Dog will have Hill Farmstead Susan and Fat Head's Hop Juju. The Susan is great; haven't had the Juju.... No clue on the pour size, but most places give approximately 5-6oz for $5-8. At least that is what I paid a few days ago!

    Cheers

Thanks for the info! (and ColFrobinBc!), I definitely want to try Jop JuJu while in Philly, Susan is fantastic, though I have easy access to Hill Farmstead living in NH so I probably skip it (what a wonderful problem to have!)

Iron Abbey has PtY this Saturday--tickets at 11:00, tapping at noon. $5 for a 5oz pour.
They are tapping PtE after Younger is gone.
