Originally being from Ohio, I like to keep up with brewery offerings in my home state. I'm interested in wild ale releases penned for next year to coincide with trips to visit family. Can anyone share pertinent information on sour brewery/cellar programs near Columbus?

Most Columbus breweries with barrel programs either don't bottle at all or don't bottle those creations - there are of course exceptions (Elevator's Bar Bar, for instance), but by and large you can only find draft/growler options.

Actual Brewing has said they will be bottling soon (their first beer was a wine barrel-aged porter), but I'm not sure what their plans are for bottles.

Jackie O's in Athens does bottle releases a few times a year, many times releasing bottled sours.

Rivertown from Cincinnati has a nice wild ale/barrel aged selection right now. I know you mentioned Columbus breweries specifically, but most if not all of their beers can be found in Columbus. That might be worth looking into if you're interested. Their recent Triumvirate (wild ale aged in Smooth Ambler gin barrels) was good.

Thanks, a Rivertown sour (Ojos Negros) sparked my interest in midwest sours.

Ojos negros was solid! Thirsty Dog is getting into sours as well. I do not know the time table for release though. I had a draft sour from them at Lizardville in Copley the summer.

Has anyone tried the Actual brewery sour (mummy something) that is on tap @ the Daily Growler?

Any updates on sour/wild beer for the Columbus, Ohio area? I'm going there this weekend.

Kindred Artisan Ales is building a barrel room as their tap room. It may be a while for some releases but I would keep an eye on them.

Their tasting room is opening soon, but a few drafts are available now.

I forgot about this post, thanks for bringing in back to life. Just read a write up about Kindred Artisan Ales. Sounds like something to check out, kettle sours at first? Then Barrel aged over time. Cheers to ya OHIO sour fans.

MadTree out of Cincinnati just kicked off their sour program. I found their sours to be very drinkable and they should be bottling their Sherry Cherry Raspberry soon.

Rivertown's Old Sour Cherry Porter is amazing and probably a shelf turd in Columbus I would imagine as it is here.

They have 4 beers released now. Nothing out of the normal. Normal porter, wit and a couple Belgains.
