It was in barrels for 10 months, and has been in stainless since 2013.

I don't know anything about putting beer in stainless steel barrels/kegs(?) but is this something that occurs frequently? Seems odd, as if they had a bunch of kegs, thought, 'hey we can make more money just bottling this instead' and just went ahead and filled them from the barrels/kegs. Anyone know what happened here?

While I also don't want to tell you to not get there early and get shutout, at every bottle release, even nutuhulu, if you showed up by 6pm, you were fine getting s bottle.

Now I'm not sure what the bottle count is on this yet, but they've been very well run in the past.

I'm not sure what happened in this case, but in the whiskey world this happens quite often....age in barrels for x amount of years and then put into stainless, stopping the maturation process to either blend with other years down the road, or to wait for bottling. As long as oxygen is purged, the beer should remain the same.

I just think it's a shame that they didn't leave some of it in for another year. All of the BA stouts I've had that were aged close to 2 years were really phenomenal, so I think a 2 yr. Cthulhu would've been something special (and definitely worth $35 a bottle).

So similar to the other bottles then.

I have a feeling it's gonna be a packed house there tonight. Luckily my wife reserved a table for our family to have dinner, so I'll have a glass while staying away from the madness at the bar.

I can't imagine them leaving this in barrels longer. It is really bourbon forward as it is. Very nice though.

Was at Clybourn tonight. Initial rush, but was still on tap when I left at 8:15. Not too crowded. Was really good. For me BCBS is better, but this was solid. Bottles are 2013 and based on my pour tonight I wouldn't let it go more than another year in the bottle.

I was surprised at it not being too crowded. Good to hear it lasted - I would've had another, but we had the kids with us and had to get back home. I liked it quite a bit, and not sure I'd agree that it needs to be drank in the next year...but who knows. If I end up with a bottle, I will probably drink it in around 6 months, though, just because it is so good at this point.

Hasn't cthulhu been on tap multiple times over the last year, and variants? Like at least 10 times?

IIRC they had a mint version too. And @croush you could be correct about it lasting more than a year. And I agree - I would have it sooner than later.

Yes, every Tuesday in November, then at least once around Christmas, and Candy Cane Cthulhu associated with the toy drive. It's good, but would I stand in line for it like folks do for BCBS, no I don't think I would.

Haha...good luck with that. You at least have to get through the bottle release on Monday.

The variants are as dissimilar from the original as (for example) Regal is from regular BCBS, so I'm not sure their tappings matter in this context.

Yeah, just like all the other BA threads; we NEVER beat a dead horse to infinity here!!
