I figured this is what everyone did when they have a group of people with them.

I'm probably the minority, but I really disliked WC when I had it at the tasting room, about 2 months ago or so. The mix of white chocolate and the base beer of wheat was not pleasant to my taste buds or stomach. (maybe I don't like wheat base beers) It was the first Bruery beer I didn't want to finish, but I don't believe in alcohol abuse so I downed it.

Last month at the tasting room, I had MW even though I wasn't a RS/HS. They were really relaxed/super generous that day. As it was my first experience with MW...it was awesome.

that's what i always do too.

as for Mocha i would be really surprised if it's infected again. but, even if it was i wouldn't be worried because at least Bruery is consistent about making things right giving refunds etc

I have confidence in what Bruery is turning out these days, they held back mash and grind for fear of the chance of an issue. I think had they thought an issue might be possible with white mocha, white chocolate, it wouldn't have been put out for offer.

I think people are just looking for problems with WC and WM, even if there isn't any, because it's assumed at this point there's a problem. I understand a little caution, but being fully apprehensive is a bit much. The Bruery isn't out to make bad beer and piss people off but it seems there's still people stuck to that theory.

No problem here. More chances for me to buy more of both.

I can't speak for anyone else but I never thought they set out to make bad beer and piss people off, I just thought they were screwing up in a whole variety of ways.

I had a 2015 WC a couple weeks ago, it was fine. No issues.

If I pick up a 32 growler of Mash and Grind today and put it in the back of the fridge until Friday...thoughts on what condition it will be in by then?

I would think if you kept it cold and closed you should be fine.

I think WC has had the greatest fluctuation in quality of all Bruery beers. There have been good years though. The initial '12 batch was legendary. ..But it didn't age well. I originally had a case and opened my last one in January. It was radically different and not so good. I'm really confident in White Mocha, but you may want to keep it in the fridge, just in case. Any elevated temps have not been kind to WC.

I had my trustee ship me my Society growler filled with M&G, which took a few weeks to get to me. Opened it up and it was still incredible.

I think batch sizing may play a small role. It takes a lot of effort to maintain a flavor profile as you increase the size and there are a lot of variables that come into play from the adjuncts, barrels, temperature and the aging process itself.

Yes, I was thinking about this as well. Seems like there's a lot more white chocolate available this year than in the past ( which is a good thing even if it's a bit different). Also, wasn't the abv on WC a little lower previously (15ish)? And I'd swear White Oak was 11.5 vs. 12. Maybe a result of scaling up the batch of white oak sap. For what it's worth, I just opened a bottle of WO and its tasting fantastic--all those toffee, vanilla, barrel notes coming through strong.

Used as a blend, the white oak sap has always seemed to pick up more ABV, as Melange #3 is higher every year (this could be from the Anniversary side of things, I don't know). I'm assuming the same thing happens with the beers it goes into, White Oak was 11.5 in 2012 and 2013, and White Chocolate was 14.25 in 2012, 14.3 last year.

And I agree. 2016 White Oak is just outstanding.
