I agree that dozens may be overstating things, but there are certainly great breweries with buzz in New England - Alchemist, HF, Lawsons, Bissell, Trillium and so on, plus there are some that are still flying under the radar that are at least as good as those - be they tiny ones that just haven't had the word get out or brand new ones hitting things from the park.

Name some of the "flying under the radar" breweries that "are at least as good" as TH, HF, etc?

I mean, if there are small breweries doing things on the level of the above mentioned, we'd be listing them off right now.

I can think of Proclamation, Foundation, Oxbow maybe but I'm not sure if anybody is putting out the quality of the heavy hitters you listed, just imo

Totally agree. You can give a tree house or trillium beer to someone that doesn't like beer and they'll like it. Not many breweries can do this. These guys are doing things other breweries can only dream of.

Only other NE IPA I'd consider on par with Tree House or Trillium is Swish. But that's Bissel's only beer on that level. Trillium & Tree House have dozens of beers on that level. (Side note: Never had HF)

If I'm driving through the state this week and wanted to grab the best that MA has to offer is there a bottle shop in central or western MA I could hit and knock a couple off the list? I guess for Trill and Night Shift I could hit the one in Sturbridge which I plan on doing before heading to TH. Any other suggestions for an out of stater without a clue?

If you're talking about Yankee Spirits in Sturbridge then that may be all you need. Julios in Westborough & any of the Craft Beer Cellars are also good options.

I would put Beer'd on that list. I've had almost all their IPA's and I would rank them just below TreeHouse, but far above just about anything else i've tried. Their Whiskerd' Wit is also one of the best beers i've ever had. That being said, however, Beer'd is super small and limited production, they also are not as consistent, batch for batch, as TreeHouse is.

Does this place normally carry Boston goods? I'm gonna be swinging by there on Thursday

Just a heads up that last Thursday around 8pm when I got to Yankee in Sturbridge the Trillium hoppy options were slim pickings. I got one of the last Big Sprangs, and there were no IPAs in the cooler. All farmhouse ales and Pot & Kettle. Still excellent bottles, but don't get your hopes up for the hoppiest beers being on the shelf. For reference, several weeks before there was plenty of Scaled IPA on the shelves at Julio's.

If you're asking about Yankee in Sturbridge, the answer is most likely not with Trillium, probably with Nightshift. That said, I lucked out a few weeks ago and they had some Trillium bottles. They had just gotten them in but it didn't sound like it was going to be a regular thing. I may be wrong. Nightshift I have seen there more often. They had a whole stack of it the last time I was there, although I forget what beer.

Trillium deliveries to the limited stores that carry them have been on a weekly basis for at least a month if not more. I have not heard any indication that this is a limited-time distribution.

It seems like Trillium is distributing their non-hoppy beers (Trillium, Pot & Kettle, their saison (the name escapes me)), the ones that can sit on shelves for a little while and still be good. Only IPA I have seen at a store is Scaled, which I personally didn't like (I'm not a big fan of El Dorado hops).

Definitely not the case around Boston. CBC Newton gets pretty much every thing (except Artaic, which wasn't distributed). Even walked into Gordons in Watertown on Saturday & they had GDHFP & DDHCS, along with several others.

Stand corrected, hope this starts trickling south (Yankee Spirits in South Attleboro)...

I saw 12 selections at S. Attleboro and that includes GDHFP. Overall, it gets better every time I take a look.

    Hello All.
For Trillium: All Yankee locations will be getting Trillium consistently. We receive our weekly delivery earlier in the week at our Attleboro location and we transfer it to our other locations on Friday. In the Sturbridge location it's usually on the shelves and in the cooler by late afternoon on Friday. We've been selling out of the Trillium hoppy beers by Sunday afternoon for the most part. If the craft singles cooler is empty where we keep the hoppy Trillium please ask. We've only received very limited amounts of the DDH beers from them and we've tried to spread it around to all locations.

For Night Shift: We get our delivery either on Wednesday afternoon or Thursday morning in our Sturbridge location and we transfer it to our other locations on Friday. On anything limited (like The 87) we try to spread it around to all locations.

IPA is just one style of beer. Legend has it that more styles exist, perhaps even dozens of them!

How did the "Tree House New Brewery Discussion" thread turn into the "Where can I buy Trillium bottles, other than the Trillium breweries"?
