I love Grimm beer as much as anyone but taking off work to chase trucks and hoard beer is so disappointing. Nothing is worse for the craft beer community then this behavior. You want to hire someone to stand in line and buy your fair share, you want to trade online, in fine with this, but chasing trucks and posting on Facebook how you got 10X the normal allotment is ridiculous.
Ok I'm getting off my soap box, thanks for letting me vent.

Chasing trucks and hoarding beer is my work as far as I'm concerned

I agree with you on all points. I wouldn't take off work to chase beer and I still believe chasing trucks is a long running joke. I never buy more than one of each for limited releases and save the rest for others. I'm up for advocating beer as much as everyone else here. The last release had 15 people waiting on line at the WF during lunch and it only received one case so that means some people didn't get a bottle. On the line I heard some people changed their flights so they can get a chance at the release. Unfortunately the hype is real now and we may not like the priorities some people may have when it comes to beer. To each his/her own, as long as they're not hoarding.

Wait, so hiring someone to stand in line for you is better than taking the day off of work? Honestly, I'd say the exact opposite.

Really? I think both are a little nuts, but I value my vacation days far more than whatever it would cost for someone to stand in line for a few hours ($20/hr maybe?). But to each his own.

Although I wouldn't make a habit of it, I could see myself taking a day off for a special release (I do this when I drive up to Casey Brewing releases in Colorado), so that doesn't seem as weird, although with all the beer that's in NYC, people could miss whole weeks chasing beer releases.

Paying someone to stand in line strikes a nerve though. I do recall not long ago talk of taskrabbits at OH releases. That seemed sad to me.

Paying one person to stand in line is infinitely better than taking the day off and truck chasing for 10x allotment. Just taking the day off to wait on a line is obviously ok (if a bit odd to waste a vacation day, but it's their time to use)

Just wanted to post here and say that Grimm makes some good beer and that it's no fun to talk about the ethics of chasing trucks or using TaskRabbits. People are going to do what they want to do regardless of what everyone here thinks.

If I ever pay somebody to stand in line to grab me a beer that I can easily get on draft for the next few weeks, please, please push me in front of the next semi truck you see.

I may be in the minority, but I really just want Vacay, and if it's like the Subliminal release, that should not be an issue at all.

Yea, makes sense to me. I couldn't see myself doing either, was just saying if push came to shove I would pay someone instead of using a limited and extremely valuable (to me) vacation day. Chasing Grimm beers though is crazy, since you can find them on draft throughout the city. I'm lucky enough that I can pop out of my office as a late lunch break and try to grab 4-pack or two, but if I miss it I'm fine just getting it on tap all over the city.

There are definitely task rabbits at OH releases, but honestly I'm fine with that. I've never used one, and don't think I would, but what people want to do with their money is their choice. If they value their time more than whatever they pay someone to wait in line, I'm not going to judge them for that decision.

While the hunt can be a pain and problematic with real world duties like a job, family, etc., there is something kinda fun about it. Getting a beer menus alert and ducking out of work for 20 minutes in hopes of getting a few cans, is mildly exciting. The hunt. Beerhunterz.
