Probably because people are expecting and hoping Tree House distribution to be similar to Trillium's since the Canton brewery opened. Then there were questions about Trillium distro since Canton opened.

And really, if I could buy Tree House cans everywhere I can currently buy Trillium bombers - even if I have to make sure to get them the day they're delivered - life would be even sweeter than it currently is (and it's pretty damned sweet).

Is it a leap to say that majority of the beer they make are ipas?

Not sure, but the post did give me the heads up, I was able to swing out to Sturbridge instead of waiting at TH for an hour and 15 for my growlers. I came home with Bright, Bear, Green, Haze, Summer St, Sleeper St, Big Sprang, Congress St, and Citra Hopped Free Rise.

Being able to pick these two breweries up within 20 minutes or so of each other is pretty amazing.

Yes. Looking at @BeerTraveler78 's spreadsheet, there have been ~67 canning runs since 11/2. ~50 have been IPAs, 8 were darker beers (ma, twss, ss, bear, old man) and the rest were pale ales or blond ales.

No, that sounds accurate. Some people value variety. Luckily there are breweries around who are good at all sorts of styles.

    Seriously.

TH is awesome. But there are a number of breweries that make beer "at least as good (better) but don't get anywhere near that kind of buzz"... They just don't make almost exclusively or almost any hazy IPAs.

IPAs are hot shit. I get it. That doesn't make TH the best brewery in general. In fact, they arent even close...yet. It is still of debate if they even make the best IPAs.

BT's is about the same distance from the new brewery as it is from the existing one.

They are adding a 50bbl brewhouse in addition to their 30bbl now, from the fact they are going to have 240bbl tanks it sounds like they are planning to use/combine both into fermenters (triple batch of 80bbl total -> 240bbl) so its not really just going from 30->50, but going from 30->80bbl.

For reference, Allagash has a 70bbl system as their main production line, so 80bbl can make a ton of beer.

Yea, this. Plus, they said the new brewery can eventually scale up to 125k bbl a year, which is over 10x higher than their current capacity. Needless to say, this is a massive expansion.

Everybody's got their thing...sure IPA's are a big % by volume of what TH puts out. But I bet it's actually a lower % compared to Lawsons or Bissell Bros. And I'd guess that farmhouse saisons probably make up a similar % of what HF makes. Alchemist makes 2 beers as far as I can tell!

I'd love to see TH dig into the non-IPA world a little more once their capacity increases. But I think that will only solidify/enhance their reputation as world class brewers because they already make outstanding non-IPA's. I'd consider Eurkea, Bear, TWSS, & Double Shot at or near the top of their respective styles.

And while Green & Julius might be their pinnacle as IPA's, I don't think TH has made their best Pale or DIPA yet, or at least one that ranks in its category the way Green & Julius do..... Just IMO.

As far as breweries that offer variety go, I give alot of credit to a place like Night Shift who, while making killer IPAs, also have at least 6-7 other beers of vastly different styles for sale at their brewery at any one time. Not all world class, but the variety & chance-taking is cool. I trust them as brewers, and they've turned me on to styles that I didn't think I'd like. I've also tried stuff from them that I'd never like to have again! But by no means does that turn me off to them. It just means I stick to Santilli for a few weeks before I get brave enough to venture outside my hoppy little bubble.

They did say the current system was staying in Monson for wort production .. great now people will be hijacking treehouse wort delivery trucks on the road to Charlton.
