Sorry I wasn't too clear in my last comment. I meant bottles. I lived in Wilmington and also never saw KBS on tap.

Just got a case for $100. Life is good when you have a best friend who owns a liquor store.

Got off work. Drove 30 minutes out to a total wine in Manassas VA to get my one limit bottle. First time I've ever been able to get it and the one whale I've most been missing. Hope it lives up. Even more so since I have so much BCBS on hand.

Well since the anti Kbs crowd is out there and you have plenty of BC , post an ISO. I like both equal but different, but the anti Kbs crowd seems to be vocal so take it off their hands.

Kbs is a great beer enjoy it. No rush to that one.

The store that I am talking about gave tickets with founders purchases and had a drawing which allowed the winners a first chance to buy KBS. He explained to me what he was told by a state official about Pay to Play, he is fighting it, but from what he explained the other store talked about is definitely guilty. I only know what was explained to me, and have not further researched what qualifies as Pay to Play, but imo that store is guilty of it.

Most PA area distributors get founders deliveries every two weeks.

In California, I was able to snag as much as I wanted at $24 a pack, bevmos recieved a ridiculous amount. Probably still around, and at grocery stores too. Funny to see on shelves and remembering how I always used to trade for this each year.

Pay to play involves a distributor or brewery paying for or offering kickbacks for draft handles and/or prime placement at a store/bar/etc. What you described is not pay to play, nor is it a tied-in sale, the latter being what you're actually talking about. There are a million things legally that could have gotten them in trouble, depending on what license they have. Do they sell liquor and wine as well? Do they have growler fills? What type of license do they have? An SDM, SDD, both?, brewer, wine maker, distillers license? Michigan alcohol law is convoluted, runs you around in circles and changes with the drop of a hat. As of this very moment, tied in sales at establishments deemed off-premise (stores most likely to to have a SDM, SDD or combination of the two licenses) are not illegal. If the store has a Class C license, which would allow them to do growler fills and samples in store, they would be considered an on-premise licensee. A lottery game is a possible tied in sale for an on-premise licensee, but that's probably also why he is going to fight it, because a lottery drawing based on current purchases for future purchases is not defined as a tied in sale (or pay to play) by Michigan law.

BTW, the MLCC doesn't write you up a pink slip. I don't know what he showed you, nor do I really care, but they send you a notice of violation in the mail that is most certainly not pink, unless it was his liquor delivery invoice, those are pink. I don't know why I'm arguing with someone who appears to be on my side, I feel like I've made it clear that the tied in sales thing is a dick move, but I feel obliged to stop the misinformation that keeps popping up. It sounds like the MLCC is throwing some weight at them because someone probably called the BBB or MLCC to complain and they have to follow up, also relying on the licensee caving and taking the fine instead of lawyering up and fighting it.

I've studied MLCC law quite extensively for over 10 years while in this industry. You can choose to keep spouting misinformation, but unfortunately you are not right. Pay to play has nothing to do with retailers, unless they are participating in a kick-back scheme for cooler/floor space. Tied in sales are legal with off-premise licenses (SDD & SDM or combo licensing). When you are a retail store that also sells growler fills, you essentially become a bar (on-premise, Class C licensee) in the MLCC's eyes and are subject to more scrutiny and harsher penalties.

    K, I'm done now.
TLDR; Making you buy things for the chance to by a rarer thing is a BS practice.

Our neighborhood tests agree with @szmnnl99 - don't keep it much more than a year. The coffee fades and the bourbon is muted.

Can't speak on java since I haven't had it, but I'd agree with the rest of this list. As mentioned all palates differ. I used to love KBS. Something is different with that beer now (to me). Lacks body, really heavy on the booze...but the most disappointing was the lack of coffee. I think if I mixed their breakfast half and half with the imperial and threw in some cheap bourbon, I'd have a better tasting beverage : /

Total Wines down here are getting it this week, but many of them including my store (Boca) are only selling it to people at the Grand Reserve ($2500 spent per year) level of the rewards program. Hopefully ABC or Whole Foods gets some.

I can't. Especially not the BCBCS.

The metric-ton mouthfeel of the BCBS family of beers alone puts them in a different class altogether in my opinion.

I will do that. I am hoping to try and find some more, but I am just happy I got one. Its amazing how some states and locations get so much and don't restrict it, whereas others get two cases and need to limit to one per person.

From what I hear, start looking at stores today, depending on the day of the stores delivery.

Love how ME and CT got it before IN. And my peeps had no problem scoring some.
Seems like a lot more went out this year, so hopefully I'll be able to get more than a bottle or two like the past few years.
Hitting stores around here this week.
