I think it's great that we here in Southern California finally get a crack at it, but I wonder why Founders doesn't list this beer in their beer finder page?

LA County is a huge area to cover to try to find bottles by pecking away at bottle shops.

I do know of one place it's on draft, though...

That's still 24 oz of KBS, which equates to about 4 "regular" beers! I don't know that I've ever had that much to drink at a lunch and went back to work, but good for you!

Consider yourself shocked...I still have 4 from last year, and the one I drank a couple weeks back from last year was fantastic IMO.

Perhaps just not your cup of tea (or glass of beer). I can say that there was definitely heat in my 2016 bottle (and draft), as well as coffee. Not as much chocolate now, but I can tell you that the 2015 I had a couple weeks ago had a ton of chocolate and I loved it. I'm going to a tapping in a couple hours where they will have 2012 and 2014 on tap (along with 2015 & 2016), so I'm looking forward to see how they stack up.

Even if it doesn't, it would be still nice to compare all 3.

It is my cup of Tea for sure. lol I just feel this and like BA IST are pretty well balanced right from the beginning. I dotn buy BBA beers to let them mellow out. My Opinion why bother putting it in Bourbon. Same with coffee. i hear people age coffee beers to let the coffee fade. If you want it to fade then don't drink a coffee beer.
But that is definitely interesting about the chocolate. That was exactly why I was a little disappointed with last years as well was how subtle the chocolate was. Thanks for the NOTES. CHEERs

I was happy settling with the 4 pack I got, and then stopped in a little store not known for their beer, and they offered to sell me a case for $125, becasue they didn't know anything about it and they said I was the only person who asked. I bought it and gave it to friends that were gonna miss out becasue they were working, so that was a cool experience and made anither relationship with a shop

I just tried KBS for the first time. It was tapped. No bottles. Not impressed. I like Averys uncle Jacob better but will hold final judgement until I get my grubby hands on a bottle.

Didn't run too hard, a few phone calls for 6 bottles which is fine. I have some aging now, and adding the new stuff I feel comfortable drinking my older stock.

One of the rare BA brews that is incredible fresh, it's got great coffee, enough barrel, kinda hot. But it also ages great too, it changes a bit, smooths out a bit, it loses the bitter. Love it both ways, I always drink at least one fresh and age the rest.

Finally found some in NorCal today. $22.49 a 4-pack, got 4 packs. It's alright, not in the top tier of barrel aged stouts though.

Got my hands on a bottle. I'll check a place by my bank Friday and maybe one other store Saturday morning.

The stuff sold out here pretty quickly, like 10 cases in less than half an hour. There's never ever any sought after beers on the shelf an hour after release, this area has some hunting dudes.

Thanks for elaborating, I guess i just dont understand the way it all works anyway. Next time I talk to him I will try to get more info, so I can understand for myself. He is only a beer store, no liquor, and he was definitely issued a slip(thought it was pink, maybe not?) and the guy that showed up took pictures of everything and and took the tickets. I did not read the slip, it seemed to be some type of notice of violation and was told he would hear from the attorney generals office. I really wasnt trying to spread misinformation or to start anything with you, i was just relaying what I was told, and assumed it was fact. Thanks again for the insight, and either way, I hate the way some of these releases have changed and the tricks that some stores are pulling. I really liked the way the ticket thing was set up, and was disappointed that he can''t do it anymore.

Drank a 2013 yesterday, definitely not any better at that point. It seems to be slightly oxidized and a bit thinner, it also seems a bit rougher on the bourbon and no coffee. I drank a 2014 last week, and it was still very good.It had a nice smooth sweet chocolate and bourbon, with just a bit of coffee. I will be drinking the rest of the 2014 very soon.

Read through this thread, three times over three days. Not a mention of KBS creeping up into Oregon or Washington State? Geeze, Nor Cal is getting it, but nothing up in PNW? Yes, I understand Founders doesn't distribute up here, but you can occasionally find their stuff in Seattle and Portland.

Que the classic Pacific Northwest response: "We already have too much beer equal or better than KBS. It will just become a shelf turd"..........
