I live in brighton, Michigan. There are a few stores around me that sell good craft beer. But very few actually sell single 12 oz bottles of Thier beer. I would rather get a single and not be stuck with a four or six pack of beer that I don't really care for.

Just wondering if there are any good beer stores in the brighton , howell area. Or even novi area. I have been to the beer Barron in Livonia. They had a great single selection.

    Thanks.

Welcome to the BA site, theonegman. One of the nice features here on BA is the Places search engine to find the breweries, good beer bars, eateries with good tap lists, good beer stores and homebrew shops that have been added by BA members. I'm not familiar with the stores in the towns that you asked about to be able to answer your question, but here are the links to a search of each of the towns. You can read reviews and maybe they will mention whether singles are available:

    Brighton -- http://www.beeradvocate.com/place/list/?path=/place/list&sort=name&show=search&searcht=place&store=Y&name=&city=brighton&s_id=MI&c_id=&zip=&area=&submit=Search

    Howell -- http://www.beeradvocate.com/place/list/?path=/place/list&sort=name&show=search&searcht=place&store=Y&name=&city=howell&s_id=MI&c_id=&zip=&area=&submit=Search

Novi -- Surprisingly no stores are listed in the database for Novi.

Probably other BA members who are familiar with your area will chime in with additional info.

Brighton Market on Grand River, decent selection, many singles! It is next door to the arcade, down the street from Marv's.

I'll second the Brighton Market. They will let you break up any six pack really, so everything is available as singles.

There's a Busch's in Novi on 10 Mile Rd. If it's anything like the Busch's in Livonia, they'll have a decent selection of local and Belgian singles. They carry both seasonals and limited releases, too.

Be sure to check dates on IPA singles. At some shops the single section is where six packs go to die

I have been to brighton market a few times. Once saw barrel aged narwhal just sitting on the shelves. I have bought some singles there before. But will they let ya buy any kind of single there? So could I just take a bottle from a six pack to the counter and they will ring it up as a single? That would be cool

Be prepared to pay for that extra privilege because most places that let you break up a six pack will charge an extra mark-up that is beyond one-sixth of the price of a 6-pack. Usually the singles in the singles section also have an extra mark-up too, even though some of them are old.

But also watch how the beer is rung up. I grabbed a single from the singles section at a store once, and the UPC code on the label rang up the cost of the entire 6-pack. Because of some other shopping I did in the store the total bill didn't seem out of place, and I didn't notice this error until I got home, 75 miles away.
